The right to food is a fundamental human right included in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Yet, according to FAO data, at the end of 2009, people who go to bed every night with empty stomachs have exceeded one billion.

Hunger is a tragedy that causes more victims of natural disasters, disease and war.

ActionAid hunger is a “product” of incorrect choices by companies, governments, international organizations and the lack of political will. Harmful policies that consider food as a mere product of the market and not as a right, make the most hungry and poor are, incredibly, farmers and peasants.

To combat this situation effectively, we need to remove existing inequalities within the control of land, water, pasture, forest and seeds; against breaches of the rights of peasants and workers; ask for more public investment in agriculture and rural development .

In the life of every day, consume the products of our land helps to support our agriculture and small local producers, and to reduce environmental pollution.

This year the Local Group of Cagliari for ActionAid celebrated on October 16, World Food Day with a drink in zero Km, organized in collaboration with the Sardinia Promotion Service by Daniela Casu, the ‘Vitis Enoteca Sardiniae Sabino Pinto, cellars Melis Terralba and several local producers of breads, cheeses, meats and other typical Sardinian products.

The funds raised by the offers of admission will go to ActionAid campaign “Operation hungry.”

Some of the products can be purchased, and a part of the collection will be donated to ActionAid ActionAid campaign in support of “Operation Hunger.”

The beautiful ariuceramiche, the subject of the poster, help setting up of the room and can be purchased by the authors, who will donate a part of the collection to support the campaign “Operation Fame”
