Roland Tchakountè
Afro / blues
Roland Tchakountè living proof that the blues has not
boundaries.
Born in Cameroon, very far from the cotton fields
that have shaped the style of its older predecessors.
He currently lives in France, but there is no corner of the
world who has not visited and stage where it is performed:
United States, Canada, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia,
Africa, Europe etc …
He began his musical training through the
study of guitar and percussion passing then to
following the plan and harmonica. Falls in love with the blues
when he hears “Crawling Kingsnake” by John Lee Hooker
from then on will have only one dream: to become
a Bluesman. His unique sound comes from
a perfect blend of his African origins with
his blues influences, combined with the characteristic to sing
his entire repertoire in Bamileke, the dialect of birth.
Roland Tchakountè sees his music as a
primitive melody, from which it creates a rainbow of
feelings, but also his means of communicating the
state of abandonment in which is located the African continent.
Roland Tchakountè was obviously inspired by artists
as: Sun House, Robert Johnson, Elmore James,
Muddy Waters, etc … but consider John Lee Hooker and
Ali Farka Toure as his masters.
His utopian wish is to make the human race
and one big family, without distinction of race or color.
and … the end of the concert: food, wine and even great blues in S. Cross of Dopofestival
