FOUR HANDS MOZART FOR HARPSCHORD – S.CHIARA CHURCH – THURSDAY AUGUST 9

Refined polyphony – with all the richness and variety of timbre of the harpsichord – for the last night of the Festival of Ancient Music (opened routes between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries of solo Mikko Perkola on viola da gamba and has continued between Baroque and contemporary twists on Corelli’s notes next to the first National Veil’d Melancholy of Lucio Garau with Perkola and MiniM Ensemble). To round off the festival – the interesting set of billboard Concert Season 2012 Friends of Music will be Thursday, August 9 from 21 in the Church of Santa Chiara in Cagliari on the duo of Basil Timpanaro and Scarlett Policardo, for an intriguing journey through the Sonatas Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Among the baroque architecture – ancient facies seventeenth-century church dedicated to Santa Clara (at the Reale Piazza Yenne ladders above) Stampace resonate in melodies and chords of the famous Sonata in D Major KV 381 (in three movements, Allegro, Andante and Allegro) and the charming Andante with Variations KV 501 (in G Major) with lovely complexity and freshness of invention of writing Mozart.

The exquisite (and childish) grace the youthful Sonata in C major KV 19d (in time [Allegro] – Andante – Allegretto) composed in the spring of 1765 and performed in a duo with his sister Nannerl during a tour in Europe then leave room for demanding virtuosity and the delicious notes of the famous Sonata in B flat Major KV 358 (Allegro – Adagio – Very soon) created by the genius of Salzburg between 1773 and 1774 and played with Nannerl between Paris and Vienna, to find among whites and blacks of the keyboard the cultural climate of the eighteenth century in the heart of Europe.

Dialogues sound and sweet harmonies on the harpsichord with four hands in the performance of the two artists – Basil Timpanaro (diploma in piano, student of David Collyer in Rotterdam, specialized with Ton Koopman and Gustav Leonhardt) is harpsichordist, organist and fortepianist, Professor of Harpsichord Conservatory “Vincenzo Bellini” of Palermo and the Sicilian (born 1990) is a rising star Scarlett Policardo plucked string instrument (concerts and festivals to its credit, the third prize for solo harpsichord, and the second for two and Basso Continuo special prizes at the European Competition “John Shanks” in Pesaro, and the Baroque Orchestra European Tour 2011 (EUBO) under the direction of Enrico Onofri).

The two interpreters sfoglieranno together the most significant pages for harpsichord duet by Mozart, including early works and masterpieces of maturity in which you can imagine the attention to the peculiarities of dynamics and timbre of the instrument – in the face of different vibrations and character “percussive” of the newer piano.

The 2012 Concert Season of the Friends of Music will continue – after the triptych of the Early Music Festival (July and August) in the Church of Santa Chiara in Cagliari – from September (in the Faculty of Education, University of Cagliari) with Music Contemporary and Acusmatica, then will start in Autumn, the second tranche of the review of “The Piano”.
