MYRTLE FESTIVAL – TORPE’ – 4 TO 5 AUGUST

The feast of the myrtle was born in August 1995 by an intuition of Don Virgilio Cocco, at that time pastor of Brunella. This would bring together in one event all the fractions that were headed to the parish, had the consent of the faithful formed a committee for organizing the event.

So in August the first festival, organized in every detail, do you stand, one for each fraction, Brunella, Talava, on Cossu, which are part of the town of Torpoint, Tamarispa, St. Peter, the town Strugas Budoni. They fall in a playful competition for the best myrtle (sweet nectar from the premise that it is done) cosichè tourists had the chance to taste the myrtle with different scents.

One detail that gives luster to the festival is the prize Myrtle Gold recognition is awarded to those people for their contribution to the dissemination and exploitation of Sardinian tradition in the world. Year after year this event go in crescendo, this is demonstrated by the large influx of tourists.

Currently the festival is organized by an association of myrtle nonprofit Brunella. The latter, every year trying to bring some organizational innovations to give the festival a very positive, in fact, those who come to visit us, will always taste homemade but the myrtle will have the opportunity to admire in the other stands ‘handicraft and sample local delicacies, and last much cordiality.
