TURANOR PLANETSOLAR IN CAGLIARI – UNTIL JULY 31
And ‘the ship arrived in the Sardinian capital to the world’s largest solar energy:
And ‘arrived at the port of Cagliari last Saturday for the only Italian stop a strange catamaran, from’ futuristic and technological significance very important, with its engines running only its photovoltaic panels that cover the entire surface (537 m² total). MS Tûranor PlanetSolar!
This is the MS Tûranor PlanetSolar who traveled so far the tune of over 60,000 kilometers once before completing the tour of the world touching and famous places like Miami, Cancun, Galapagos Islands, French Polynesia, Brisbane, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bombay, Abu Dhabi and many more. Cagliari Now!
The Planet Solar Project is the brainchild “visionary” by the Swiss Raphael Domjan and was carried out thanks to the German lender Immo Ströher and work of an international team of physicists, engineers, builders and sailors. The objective is to demonstrate that solar power is a clean, limitless resource and constitutes a real alternative to fossil fuel consumption.
The first name of the ship, Tûranor, which has an aftertaste that may seem to us nuragic actually derived from the mythology of the novel by JRR Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” and means “Power of the Sun”. However, links with the literature does not end here: the journey was undertaken in the footsteps of Phileas Fogg, the protagonist of the novel by Jules Verne Around the World in 80 Days, from which Domjan and his team have been greatly inspired. In addition to the official website of the boat, the crew told the adventures and sensations of the journey around the equator, so writing a real online logbook documenting everything with pictures posted online.
Who wants to visit, participate in the contest “Sun Hits” and post a photo that best represents the solar energy and sustainable living. Joining is simple: you post pictures on the bulletin board of the event and the authors of the best photos will be able to board and get to know the crew.
Regulation:
The ship, the only one in the world, is the emblem of a mix of technological innovation and environmental sustainability vocation: his arrival in the port city of Sardinia is promoted by the tourism and handcrafts from the Confindustria Southern Sardinia and from ‘Port Authority of Cagliari.
The project was born from the mind of the visionary Swiss Raphael Domjan: a trip to the ecological and technological world on board a ship that is operated by solar energy.
On May 4, 2012 in Monte Carlo Tûranor complete his first lap of the Earth but the journey is just beginning to arrive and now its only Italian in Cagliari.
The aim is to show the world that you can find alternatives to oil consumption from wild right now and the ship is the proof.
