Each of us has a memory of Roberto Baggio. A reminder that for twenty years is interwoven with our lives. Goal after goal. World after world. And everyone has a Baggio. For this, a biography is not enough to tell Baggio is a novel. It takes two authors are full of love, to follow in the footsteps of Baggio from Florence to Turin, from Milan to Bologna, Brescia and Vicenza Caldogno up to where it all began. This is a journey in search of the player, man, icon, through two decades of football history and Italy.

Along some stretches of the coast of Sardinia’s life and death, beauty and the nightmare, the wars simulated and real deaths are divided by a border increasingly thin. A boundary along which runs the largest home front in Europe, which since the war has distorted territories often poignant beauty, transforming them into theater exercises and trials of death. People living along that border talks about Quirra syndrome, an unseen evil and dark, made dozens of seemingly inexplicable deaths, which led in the heart of the Mediterranean, the nightmare of dust contamination of war. A nightmare so impalpable as deadly, that unites the home front in war zones like the Balkans and Iraq. But not only. Electromagnetic pollution, toxic sludge, hazardous waste, and the whole repertoire of waste that a savage military and industrial abuse brings. Polygons military, the largest refinery in the Mediterranean basin, a host of industrial products with high health and environmental impact that vivacchiano around disused mining districts, among the largest continent of the old and shabby. Foreign bodies that give death to the present and future, in exchange for uncertain and unhealthy payroll.
