MAGNIFICAT OF BACH – MUSIC PARK – CAGLIARI – SATURDAY JULY 21

Saturday, July 21 at 21.30, at the Parco della Musica in Cagliari, is held the third of six musical events every Saturday until August 11, as part of “The Sounds of Soul 2012″ of the Lyric Theatre of Cagliari, dedicated This week, the symphonic-choral sacred music. The protagonists are the Opera House Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Marco Faelli and, as soloists: the Cantata in C Major Francesca Zanatta (soprano), Irene Macutan (contralto), Patteri Moreno (tenor), Alessandro Senes (low ) for the Magnificat Tiziana Zedda / Graziella Ortu (sopranos), Catherine D’Angelo (alto), Patteri Moreno (tenor), Alessandro Senes (bass). The musical accompaniment on the harpsichord is Andrea Mudu.

The musical program, devoted entirely to the genius of Johann Sebastian Bach composition, includes: Cantata in C major for soloists, chorus and orchestra, BWV 147 “Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben” Magnificat in D major for soloists, chorus and orchestra, BWV 243 .

The Lyric Theatre of Cagliari dedicates this concert to Scarlett Urru young volunteer Samugheo (Or), kidnapped in October 2011 in Algeria, and leaps through the universal message of peace and freedom from popular music, for the liberation.

Entrance to the exhibition, which lasts about an hour, is free.

The Cantata in C Major, for the Visitation of Mary, is among those of more ample proportions composed by Johann Sebastian Bach (Eisenach, 1685 – Leipzig, 1750), is best known for the famous chorale “Jesus remain my joy.” Performed for the first time in Leipzig in 1723, the cantata exalts the divine power and sends a message of sweetness and solemnity. In opening the trumpet emphasizes the solemn moment arrived, then, moments of ineffable peace with the intervention of the oboes, while soloists and chorus calling for the magnanimity of God The second part is a real upward movement that finds its peak in concluding chorus “Jesus remain my Joy”: a song of joy in which the people, after knowing Jesus does not want to stay away.
The Magnificat in D Major, performed for the first time in St. Thomas’ in Leipzig July 2, 1733, is one of the most important symphonic-choral works of Bach. It is a sacred cantata composed for orchestra, chorus for five voices and five soloists. The text is taken from the song featured in the first chapter of Luke’s Gospel, with which Mary praises and thanks God he has delivered his people. The Magnificat, divided into twelve parts but grouped in three movements, each of which begins with a look and is complemented by the choir, is a major in Latin compositions of Bach.

The aim of the exhibition “The Sounds of Soul” is the enhancement of the most beautiful churches, cathedrals and churches of Sardinia, through the creation of musical inspiration of sacred or religious.

The last event in Sardinia of the exhibition is scheduled for Monday, July 23 at 21.30 in the Parish of San Giovanni Battista di Pula.
