Il mercatino di Natale di Strasburgo è sicuramente il più antico di Francia e si contende con Dresda e Norimberga il titolo di mercatino più antico d’Europa.

Una leggenda, confermata da una cronaca del 1605, narra che la tradizione dell’albero di Natale sia nata qui, quando i cittadini portavano in casa degli abeti per ornarli con rose di carta multicolori, mele, zucchero e oggetti luccicanti come oro.

Le centinaia di bancarelle decorate del Chriskindelsmarik (mercato del Gesù Bambino in alsaziano) si trovano in tutto l’immenso centro storico della città. Inoltre è il mercato più antico di Francia con i suoi 500 anni di storia.

Il cuore del mercato è in Place Broglie, Place de la Cathédrale, Rue de la Comédie, Place de la Gare ePlace Klébler (dove si trovano anche un enorme albero di Natale e un calendario dell’Avvento).

Si può acquistare di tutto: dalle decorazioni per alberi di Natale e presepi, dai tradizionali oggetti d’artigianato alsaziani a quelli provenienti da luoghi più lontani e sconosciuti.

Il Villaggio del paese invitato (Village du pays invité) in Place Gutenberg. Ogni anno Strasburgo dedica questo mercatino ad una nazione diversa, quest’anno sarà ospite il Belgio.

Il mercatino delle Delizie natalizie dell’Alsazia (Le marché des délices de Noël d’Alsace) in place d’Austerlitz.

Mercatino tipico dedicato alle  tradizioni culinarie natalizie dell’Alsazia. Troverete il famoso vino dell’Alsazia, la foie gras, i bredle, e tante altre specialità culinarie natalizie della regione.

Negli stand gastronomici si trova di tutto ma non si può resistere ai Bredle (biscotti natalizi alsaziani al burro, insaporiti con cioccolato, anice, caramello, mandorle, zenzero o frutta), al fois gras, alle varietà del Choucroute (piatto a base di maiale e crauti), alle caramelle speziate, ai porcellini di marzapane.

E poi al cioccolato, ai pan di frutta, al pain d’épices a base di miele, zucchero e cannella, ai Bretzels dolci, ai Kougelhopf (ciambelloni), ai Maennelle (omini fatti di pasta brioche decorata), alle zuppe fumanti, alle pizze, alle torte flambée, alle famose pommes d’amour e ai vini e alle birre d’Alsazia.

Il villaggio della condivisione (Le Village du partage) in Place Kléber. Questo mercatino mantiene viva un antica tradizione degli abitanti di Strasburgo: quella di lasciare doni sotto l’albero di Natale gigante per le persone povere della città. Oltre 80 associazioni di carità organizzano questo evento i cui proventi sono destinati alle opere di carità. Il mercatino si svolge attorno al grande albero di Natale (Grand Sapin) di place Kléber.

Il Villaggio dei Bambini (Le Village des enfants) in Place Saint Thomas. Un vero villaggio natalizio interamente concepito e progettato per accogliere i bambini e le loro famiglie durante il periodo natalizio. Il Villaggio dei Bambini offre una zona di intrattenimento e un programma di animazione, narrazione e laboratori che immerge i bambini nel magico mondo di fiaba del Natale.

Musica e spettacoli
Nella stupenda Cattedrale di Notre-Dame, ma anche in numerose altre chiese, si tengono concerti natalizi di vario genere.

In Place du Chateau viene allestita una grande pista di pattinaggio su ghiaccio.The Christmas market in Strasbourg is definitely the oldest in France and contends with Dresden and Nuremberg the title of Europe’s oldest market.

The market of Earthly Delights Christmas in Alsace (Le marché des délices de Noël d’Alsace) in the Place d’Austerlitz.

Typical market dedicated to the culinary traditions of Alsace Christmas. You will find the famous wine of Alsace, the foie gras, the bredle, and many other culinary Christmas in the region.

In the food stalls you can find everything but you can not resist Bredle (Alsatian Christmas cookies with butter, flavored with chocolate, anise, caramel, almonds, ginger or fruit), foie gras, the variety of Sauerkraut (dish made of pork and sauerkraut), spicy candies, the pigs made of marzipan.

And then the chocolate, the bread fruit, the pain d’épices made of honey, sugar and cinnamon, sweet Bretzels, the Kougelhopf (cakes), to Maennelle (men made of brioche dough decorated), soups steaming to pizzas, cakes flambéed, the famous pommes d’amour and wines and beers from Alsace.
