Trama:
Aria è una bambina di 9 anni che si ritrova suo malgrado a vivere una violenta separazione dei suoi genitori, lo strappo dalle sue “sorellastre” in una famiglia allargata. I suoi genitori non la amano quanto le vorrebbe. Aria, strattonata nel conflitto tra suo padre e sua madre, respinta e allontanata, attraversa la città con una sacca a strisce e un gatto nero, sfiorando l’abisso e la tragedia e cercando solo di salvaguardare la sua innocenza.

Vic è il manager di Fresu e sta seguendo da vicino gli sviluppi della carriera di Raffaele, il quale sta vivendo in prima persona la realizzazione di un sogno: ha conosciuto un “maestro” che crede nel suo talento. Il viaggio è l’occasione per un intenso e appassionato dialogo sul mondo musicale di Fresu, sul suo modo di vivere e intendere la musica, abbracciando con essa altre sfere dell’arte: la poesia, la letteratura, il teatro, l’arte visiva, il cinema.

Nell’intima atmosfera di una festa di vecchi amici per un amico onnivoramente curioso del mondo, delle sue culture, cucine, genti e paesaggi, un cast di stelle, come Fresu multidisciplinari, lo racconta. Fra loro i “connazionali” Salis e Gavino Murgia, Ermanno Olmi (per il quale Fresu ha scritto le musiche di Centochiodi), Uri Caine, Steve Swallow, il danzatore Giorgio Rossi, Benni, Ascanio Celestini, Trilok Gurtu, Ralph Towner, Ornella Vanoni, Paolino Dalla Porta, Ettore Fioravanti. E non uno che ne dica male. Minini Meròt ride: “Ci siamo posti il problema, ma non siamo riusciti a trovare una voce fuori dal coro”. Più che opportuno perciò, sui titoli di coda, l’esilarante affetto di Stefano Bollani per Fresu con la sgangherata Sua sardità. Al di là di quella già probante unanimità, quel che nel film colpisce di Fresu è l’incedere nella vita bilanciato, determinato e sempre affabile; e chi lo conosce sa che è così. Ma a volte s’incazza pure lui. “Sì, negli aeroporti, che mi son diventati casa. E allo stesso modo, mentre nella vita quotidiana sono molto accomodante, se mi trovo sul palco con qualcuno che non mi piace proprio non lo posso nascondere”

La situazione si complica quando si mette di traverso anche la ruspante mafia serba, in un susseguirsi di omicidi e vendette incrociate sempre più rocambolesco. Grazie alla fortuna dei principianti e a un coraggio fuori dal comune, Nils riuscirà a tenere tutti sotto scacco, fino all’eclatante resa dei conti.

Chinatown è considerato una delle più felici e originali riletture contemporanee del detective movie di eredità chandleriana. La qualità dei dialoghi e della ricostruzione d’epoca, l’accurata gradualità con cui viene alimentato lo spessore dei personaggi e dei loro anfratti psichici, l’eleganza visiva della messa in scena sono in realtà al servizio di una severa disamina di ogni mondo possibile, senza appello o riscatto. […] Nel finale, riscritto da Polanski senza accordo con lo sceneggiatore, Chinatown diviene la metafora dell’impossibilità di tutto (la vita, l’amore, il potere) a essere diverso […]. Il mistero viene risolto, ma il caos della violazione e del sopruso, sotto l’ordine apparente, è riconfermato per sempre. Polanski imprime a questa rilettura la radicalità di uno scetticismo tipico dei suoi film migliori. migliori, quasi nascosto da una ricostruzione preziosa di cui tutti sono complici: John Huston (il padre del noir, qui nei panni di un patriarca onnipotente: la storia si svolge nel 1937, qualche anno prima che egli desse vita al genere con Il mistero del falco), Faye Dunaway (alla sua prova migliore), e naturalmente Nicholson: forse il più riuscito dei discendenti contemporanei di Philip Marlowe.

Chinatown is considered one of the happiest and most original contemporary reinterpretation of the heritage of Chandlerian detective movie . The quality of the dialogue and the reconstruction period , the accurate gradation which is supplied with the thickness of the characters and their ravines psychic , visual elegance of the staging are actually in the service of a strict examination of all possible worlds without appeal or redemption .
