Questo giovedì, per la Rassegna Jazz del White Café di Via Sonnino 119 curata da Manuela Mameli, il maestro Stefano d’Anna ci propone l’eredità musicale di uno dei più enigmatici e geniali musicisti della storia, Thelonius Monk, in una inedita rivisitazione articolata con originalità sui percorsi del suo tenorsax in combinazione col contrabbasso dell’algherese Nicola Muresu, che andranno ad avventurarsi sulle orme del grande pianista e compositore statunitense, contando sulle solide fondamenta ritmiche approntate dal drummer cagliaritano Gianrico Manca, leader di un’altra formazione condivisa con Stefano d’Anna “Elementrio”, che ha piacevolmente inaugurato la Rassegna a Gennaio.

Monktime – questo il nome del progetto che verrà presentato Giovedì – è dedicato alla rilettura delle composizioni di Thelonious Monk all’insegna dell’interplay del trio sax-contrabbasso-batteria, entro il quale i ruoli dei tre strumenti attuano un gioco paritario di scambio, dialogo e lirismo solistico.

Le composizioni di Monk definiscono soltanto l’ambito formale iniziale entro cui l’esplorazione dei possibili tragitti dell’improvvisazione viene attuata alla luce delle prassi esecutive del jazz contemporaneo, senza tuttavia dimenticare il rispetto per la tradizione.

Appuntamento come ogni giovedì alle 20.30 per iniziare al meglio la serata degustando gli ottimi piatti dell’abbondante buffet White, con scelta di antipasti, primi, secondi e due calici di vino o birra inclusi, per soli 13€ tutto compreso.

This Thursday , the Jazz Festival at the White Café Via Sonnino 119 curated by Manuela Mameli, maestro Stefano d’Anna gives us the musical legacy of one of the most enigmatic and talented musicians in history , Thelonius Monk, in an unpublished review of articulated with originality on the trails of his Tenorsax in combination with the bass Nicola dell’algherese Muresu , which will be to venture in the footsteps of the great pianist and composer , relying on a solid rhythmic foundation prepared by drummer Cagliari Gianrico missing , leading to formation shared with another Stefano d’ Anna ” Elementrio ,” which pleasantly opened the Festival in January.

Monktime – the name of the project that will be presented Thursday – is dedicated to the reinterpretation of the compositions of Thelonious Monk banner interplay of sax – bass -drums trio , within which the roles of the three instruments implement a playing field of trade, dialogue and lyrical solo .

The compositions of Monk only define the scope within which the formal initial exploration of possible routes of improvisation is implemented in light of the performance practices of contemporary jazz , but without forgetting the respect for tradition .
