Trama:
1830. Niccolò Paganini (David Garrett), virtuoso del violino e amante delle donne, si trova all’apice della carriera, acclamato in tutta Europa. Il suo nome è sinonimo di amori e scandali, e il suo manager Urbani (Jared Harris) sta facendo di tutto per alimentare la sua fama. Manca ancora però un debutto britannico e per riuscire a convincere Paganini a raggiungere Londra, l’impresario inglese John Watson (Christian McKay) e la sua amante Elisabeth Wells (Veronica Ferres) sono disposti a tutto. Urbani, astuto uomo d’affari, riesce a portare Paganini nella capitale britannica, anche contro la sua volontà. E grazie alle critiche della giornalista Ethel Langham (Joely Richardson), il concerto è un successo e gli ammiratori affollano l’hotel dove alloggia il violinista, causando disordini. Musicista e manager sono costretti a rifugiarsi a casa di Watson, dove Paganini presto incontra la graziosa figlia del suo padrone di casa, Charlotte (Andrea Deck), una giovanissima cantante di talento. Paganini si innamorerà perdutamente della giovane bellezza, contrariando Urbani che teme di perdere l’influenza che ha sul suo protegé ed inizia così a elaborare un piano diabolico per separare i due amanti..

La storia vera di Solomon Northup, che nel 1841, nonostante fosse un uomo libero, venne rapito e portato in una piantagione di cotone in Louisiana come schiavo, per rimanerci fino al 1853. Tutta colpa delle diverse leggi che regnavano negli Stati americani, per cui a Washington (dove avvenne il rapimento) la schiavitù era legale, a differenza di quello che succedeva a New York, città in cui viveva normalmente Northrup. Responsabili dei dodici anni di schiavitù dell’uomo furono due bianchi, che con l’inganno lo portarono nella capitale americana e poi lo privarono dei documenti che provavano il suo status di uomo libero.

La nostra sezione didattica ha preparato una scheda per insegnanti ed alunni con l’auspicio che per questo titolo vi sia modo di organizzare matinée con le scuole.
In occasione del 100°Anniversario  della nascita del personaggio di Charlot che cade proprio il prossimo febbraio – A THE GOLD RUSH precede KID’S AUTO RACES AT VENICE (1914, 7′ ca.) sempre in versione restaurata e sottotitolata in italiano.
Questo breve film è infatti il primo in cui compare sullo schermo la mitica figura chapliniana con baffetti, bastone e bombetta….

Plot:
, 1830. Niccolò Paganini (David Garrett) , violin virtuoso and lover of women , is at the apex of his career, acclaimed throughout Europe. His name is synonymous with love affairs and scandals , and his manager Urbani (Jared Harris) is doing everything to feed his fame. Still missing , however, a British debut and to be able to convince Paganini to reach London, the English impresario John Watson (Christian McKay ) and his mistress Elisabeth Wells (Veronica Ferres ) are willing to do anything . Urbani, an astute businessman , he manages to bring Paganini in the British capital , even against his will. And thanks to the criticism of the journalist Ethel Langham ( Joely Richardson) , the concert was a success and admirers flock to the hotel where you are staying violinist , causing unrest. Musicians and managers are forced to take refuge at the home of Watson, where Paganini soon meets the pretty daughter of his landlord, Charlotte (Andrea Deck) , a talented young singer . Paganini will fall in love madly young beauty , contradicting Urbani who is afraid to lose the influence it has on his protégé and begins to devise a diabolical plan to separate the two lovers ..

The true story of Solomon Northup , who in 1841 , although he was a free man , was kidnapped and taken to a cotton plantation in Louisiana as a slave , to remain there until 1853 . All the fault of the various laws that reigned in the American States , so Washington (where the kidnapping took place ) slavery was legal , unlike what happened in New York , the city where he lived normally Northrup . Officers of the twelve years of slavery of man were two white men , who took him with the deception in the American capital and then deprived him of the documents that proved his status as a free man.

Our teaching has prepared a section for teachers and students, with the hope that in this way there is no way to organize matinee with schools.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the character of Charlie Chaplin that falls right next February – IN THE GOLD RUSH precedes KID’S AUTO RACES AT VENICE (1914 , 7 ‘ approx. ) Always restored version and subtitled in Italian .
This short film is the first in which it appears on the screen with the mythical figure Chaplin mustache , bowler hat and cane ….
