L’incedere di AnimaNera Mediterranea si fa sempre più incalzante. Un susseguirsi di appuntamenti travolgenti saranno lo sfondo delle festività simbolo dell’intimità, l’accoglienza e la cordialità. La sera prima della vigilia di Natale, il 23 dicembre, ore 21 al Teatro Eliseo di Nuoro, l’atmosfera si fa più corale e intensa in attesa dei momenti di ritrovo e comunione ben rappresentati da luculliani pranzi -qui anticipati dalla seconda degustazione a base di salumi e vino – e dall’intesa e l’armonia trasposta musicalmente con l’Orchestra Jazz Nuorese. Anticipando un gradito regalo, la band si è esibita nella mattinata di sabato 21 dicembre in un concerto al Liceo Musicale di Nuoro con un repertorio che ha incluso classici brani natalizi e alcuni pezzi dell’orchestra di Count Basie, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart e i Gosos rivisitati in chiave jazz (Island Christmas), ponendo ottime premesse per stabilizzare questo nuova unione.

Diretta da Gianpaolo Selloni (Pianoforte) e composta da Pierluigi Manca (Contrabbasso), Luca Deriu (Batteria), Giuseppe Chironi (Chitarra), Elias Lapia (Sax alto), Mauro Usai (Sax tenore), Marco Di Cesare (Sax baritono), Alessio Ruzzeddu (1°Tromba), Davide Guiso (2°Tromba), Claudia Coccoda (3° Tromba), Fabio Coronas (1° Trombone), Daniela Lai (2° Trombone) e la voce di Federico Di Chiara, il progetto Big Band CGJ Project continua per realizzare e rendere concrete quelle sensazioni che possono scaturire solo dai grandi brani del jazz. Un’ulteriore presenza arricchirà l’ensemble, quella del sassofonista Gavino Murgia.

Il presidio Slow Food di Nuoro, come anticipato, parteciperà anche durante questa serata e presenterà alcuni salumi del territorio provenienti da Oliena (F.lli Puddu) e Desulo (Rovajo). Una varietà di sapori che verranno sapientemente abbinati ad un Cannonau della cantina di Dorgali.

A partire dal 24 dicembre -e immancabile anche quest’anno-  il cuore del festival, i concerti gospel, una scelta che l’associazione Intermezzo porta avanti con determinazione e il proposito di creare un saldo legame culturale e spirituale tra le comunità sarde e l’espressione di fede più dinamica e conosciuta della comunità afroamericana. L’esordio è previsto a Loculi, punto di partenza per un tour pervaso da un fervore appassionato e coinvolgente, guidato dall’esuberante Cedric Shannon Rives, che toccherà le date delle festività e proseguirà con una tappa al Teatro Eliseo di Nuoro venerdì 27, alle 21, per continuare il suo euforico percorso sino al 29 dicembre.

L’ultimo appuntamento -e degustazione- al Teatro Eliseo sarà il 30 dicembre con l’atteso duo Elva Lutza insieme alla cantante catalana Ester Formosa.

Il progetto Big Band Cala Gonone Jazz nasce nell’ambito dell’omonimo festival, guidato dal maestro Antonio Ciacca i cui sforzi hanno permesso di formare questi talenti durante un’intensa sessione di prove nell’arco di pochi giorni, ma che ha consentito loro di esibirsi in un concerto dedicato ai classici del jazz. Una performance che ha avuto il pregio di lasciare emergere le personalità esplosive di ognuno dei musicisti.
Un tour de force con intenti precisi, ha confermato le speranze del maestro Ciacca:
“La scelta di assemblare una classica Jazz Big Band è dovuta al fatto che oggi per i giovani jazzisti è quasi impossibile avere l’esperienza fondamentale che ha formato tutti i grandi maestri della storia del jazz: suonare in una Big Band […] Spero che questa esperienza porti gli studenti alla scoperta del repertorio classico del jazz e dei grandi compositori e arrangiatori, con la prospettiva di diventare loro  un giorno i nuovi compositori del jazz moderno. In Italia ci sono tanti talenti che hanno bisogno di maturare e svilupparsi accanto ai grandi maestri.”

Sulle orme del padre, Cedric Shannon Rives  -ora cantante, compositore e attore di musical– comincia ad esibirsi con il coro giovanile della loro chiesa. La vitalità presente nel suo timbro vocale raggiunta grazie all’esercizio, invitano  il giovane Rives a dedicare la sua vita all’espressione della spiritualità attraverso il canto e il coinvolgimento emotivo degli altri per avvicinarli  al Signore.
Diplomatosi al Central Visual and Performing Arts di St. Louis (nel suo stato natio il Missouri), perfeziona il suo talento specializzandosi in musica, teatro, jazz e musical. A venticinque anni, esce il suo primo album e riesce a vendere 10.000 copie, ma è solo con il secondo che arriva il successo con i pezzi “Bow Down” e “Worship Hin”. Nel 1999 entra a far parte del musical “Be Careful What You Pray For” e successivamente in “A House Divided”.
Nel 2001, l’associazione C-Jam gli offre l’opportunità di cantare in Italia dove ha modo di conoscere ed esibirsi per Papa Giovanni Paolo II. Da quel momento, Cedric Shannon Rives si è impegnato per promuovere e diffondere la cultura Afro-Americana mediante l’ausilio della musica e l’istituzione dell’associazione Appennino Music Festival in Emilia-Romagna e degli Incontri Internazionali di Musica da Camera Marzabotto con l’aiuto di Francesco Verenucci. In seguito, partendo sempre dall’Emilia-Romagna, si muove per realizzare un gospel itinerante lungo l’Italia e poi in Svizzera.

The pace of Animanera Mediterranean is becoming more pressing . A series of events will be the overwhelming backdrop of the holidays symbol of intimacy, the warmth and friendliness . The night before Christmas Eve , December 23 , at 21 at the Teatro Eliseo in Nuoro, the atmosphere becomes more intense choral and waiting for the moment to meet and fellowship well represented by lavish lunches here early in the second – tasting -based salami and wine – and by the cartel and harmony transposed musically with the Jazz Orchestra Nuorese . Anticipating a welcome gift, the band performed on the morning of Saturday, December 21 in a concert at the Liceo Musicale of Nuoro with a repertoire that included classic Christmas songs and a few pieces of the orchestra of Count Basie , Stevie Wonder , Rod Stewart and Gosos twist jazz ( Christmas Island ) , placing good premises to stabilize this new union .

Directed by Gianpaolo Selloni (Piano) composed by Pierluigi Manca ( bass ), Luca Deriu (Drums ), Giuseppe Chironi ( guitar ) , Elias Lapia ( Alto sax ), Mauro Usai ( tenor sax ), Marco Di Cesare ( baritone sax ) , Alessio Ruzzeddu (1st Trumpet) , David Guiso (2nd Trumpet) , Claudia Coccoda (3rd Trumpet ), Fabio Coronas (1st Trombone ), Daniela Lai (2nd Trombone ) and the voice of Federico Di Chiara , the Big project band CGJ Project continues to build and make concrete those feelings that can only come from large pieces of jazz. Another presence will enrich the ensemble , that of saxophonist Gavino Murgia .

The Slow Food Presidium of Nuoro , as anticipated, will also participate in this event and will present some salami of the territory from Oliena ( Puddu Brothers ) and Desulo ( Rovajo ) . A variety of flavors that are perfectly matched to a Cannonau cellar Dorgali.

Starting from December 24 this year – and inevitable – the heart of the festival, the gospel concerts , a choice that the association Intermezzo brings forward with determination and purpose to create a strong bond between the spiritual and cultural community and the sardines ‘ expression of faith most dynamic and best known of the African American community . The debut is scheduled to Loculi , the starting point for a tour filled with a passionate fervor and engaging , led by the exuberant Cedric Shannon Rives , who will visit the festival dates and will continue with a stop at the Teatro Eliseo in Nuoro Friday 27 , at 21 , to continue its euphoric path until December 29.

The last round – and – wine tasting at the Teatro Eliseo will be December 30th with the highly anticipated duet with the singer Elva Lutza Catalan Ester Formosa.

The project Cala Gonone Jazz Big Band was born within the eponymous festival , led by Antonio Ciacca whose efforts have allowed us to train these talents during an intense session in a few days , but that has allowed them to perform in a concert dedicated to the classics of jazz . A performance that had the advantage of leaving out the explosive personality of each of the musicians.
A tour de force with specific intent , confirmed the hopes of the master Ciacca :
“The decision to assemble a classic Jazz Big Band is due to the fact that today’s young jazz musicians is almost impossible to have the basic experience that has formed all the great masters of the history of jazz playing in a Big Band […] i hope that this experience will lead students to explore the classical repertoire and jazz great composers and arrangers, with the prospect of one day becoming their new composers of modern jazz . In Italy there are many talents that need to mature and develop alongside the great masters. “

Following in the footsteps of his father, Cedric Shannon Rives – time singer, songwriter and musical actor – he began playing with the youth choir of their church. The vitality of this in his vocal timbre achieved through the exercise , invite the young Rives to devote his life to the expression of spirituality through song and the emotional involvement of others to bring them closer to the Lord.
He graduated from Central Visual and Performing Arts in St. Louis (in his home state of Missouri ) , perfects his talents specializing in music, theater, jazz and musicals. At twenty-five , he released his first album and managed to sell 10,000 copies , but it is only the second that success comes with the pieces ” Bow Down ” and ” Worship Hin” . In 1999 he joined the musical ” Be Careful What You Pray For ” and later in ” A House Divided ” .
In 2001 , the association C -Jam offers him the opportunity to sing in Italy, where he met and perform for Pope John Paul II. From that moment on , Cedric Shannon Rives is committed to promote and disseminate the African- American culture through the use of music and the establishment of the Association Music Festival Apennines in Emilia -Romagna and of the International Meetings of Chamber Music with the Marzabotto ‘ aid of Francis Verenucci . Afterwards, always starting from Emilia -Romagna , moves to create a gospel traveling along Italy and then in Switzerland.
