dal 23 al 26 luglio ritorna a Cagliari il Festival Internazionale Jazz in Sardegna con i Grandi Maestri e le con le Signore della scena mondiale.

Nuove location della manifestazione: Parco della Musica e Villa Muscas

Dal 23 al 26 luglio 2013 ritorna a Cagliari il Festival Internazionale Jazz in Sardegna e l’European Jazz Expo con il suo format innovativo che ne ha consolidato il successo e l’apprezzamento a livello internazionale. Principali novità di questa 31° edizione: il ritorno della manifestazione nel periodo estivo, tradizionale collocazione annuale del festival nei primi vent’anni, e la disponibilità delle nuove location di Villa Muscas e del Parco della Musica, il complesso multifunzionale al centro di Cagliari che per la prima volta verrà sottoposto al vaglio di una manifestazione di livello internazionale e che si candida a costituire il punto di riferimento per le attività culturali e musicali dell’intera regione. “Sarà proprio l’EJE infatti a collaudare le potenzialità di questa nuovo spazio che porterà nuovi sviluppi per le attività musicali cagliaritane”, come ha spiegato Massimo Palmas, direttore artistico del festival, durante la conferenza stampa nazionale che si è tenuta sabato all’Hotel Mercure di Olbia, alla presenza di alcune tra le principali testate giornalistiche  nazionali: “L’Eje 2014 potrà infatti finalmente contare su un contesto logistico pressoché unico in Europa, con tre teatri al chiuso (Teatro Lirico, Teatro Ridotto e Auditorium del Conservatorio), un’arena all’aperto (la Piazza Amedeo Nazzari), aule didattiche e spazi espositivi facenti parte del complesso Parco della Musica.

A questi si potrà nuovamente aggiungere, ne siamo convinti, il Parco di Monte Claro con i suoi splendidi prati e la nuova location del Mercure Haermea di Olbia, che contribuirà ad ampliare il coinvolgimento dell’intera regione nel progetto. Un progetto chiaro, convincente e condiviso da un numero crescente di sponsor privati: quest’anno infatti alle tradizionali adesioni di Greentech e Terna, leader nel settore delle energie alternative, si aggiunge Sky, marchio prestigioso nel settore della telecomunicazione”. Una edizione dedicata al ricordo di due figure che hanno fatto la storia di Jazz in Sardegna e dell’Eje. Un cinico destino ha voluto infatti che nel 2013 si siano congedati insieme, a poche settimane di distanza l’uno dall’altro: Isio Saba e Rodolfo Roberti. Il primo ha fatto la storia del jazz in Sardegna, portando nell’isola il jazz internazionale e fondando le più importanti rassegne (Jazz in Sardegna, S. Anna Arresi, Ozieri, Carbonia), il secondo l’ha raccontata, riprendendo le immagini preziose dei momenti più esaltanti di trent’anni di jazz.

L’Expo 2013 punta così a un cartellone di qualità con un occhio rivolto al futuro e un prestigioso programma di eventi al quale, solo per quest’anno, verrà sottratto l’aspetto espositivo destinato alle novità e ai giovani talenti nazionali ed internazionali. Ogni sera si succederanno nei due palchi (l’Arena principale nel Parco della Musica e il palco nella suggestiva Villa Muscas), da due a tre concerti a partire dalle ore 21.

Gli spettacoli con ingresso a pagamento saranno quelli al Parco della Musica, mentre a Villa Muscas l’ingresso sarà gratuito.

Abbonamento per le tre giornate: 40.00€ (Ersu); 45.00€ (Carta Giovani) e 50.00€ per (Intero). Il costo del biglietto singolo (giornaliero) invece è di 25.00 €.

L’apertura di martedì 23 luglio sarà affidata alle ore 21.00 alla vincitrice della 5° edizione del Premio Parodi, Elsa Martin. A convincere la giuria è stato il brano “Dentrifûr” e la sua dolcissima voce accompagnata dal chitarrista e arrangiatore Marco Bianchi. Alle 21.30 ci si trasferisce nell’adiacente nuovo spazio urbano nel centro della città per l’inaugurazione ufficiale della 31° edizione di Jazz in Sardegna con S’Ard, la musica dei “danzatori delle stelle” e il fascino della Sardegna. Un progetto di musica, parole e immagini diretto da Mauro Palmas. Ospiti speciali le tradizioni sarde che abbracciano quelle partenopee e della Sicilia, in un intimo e magico incontro di voci e suoni: la zampogna e il friscaletto, strumenti tipici della tradizione popolare dell’Italia del sud, suonati magistralmente dal maestro Pietro Cernuto (Sicilia), si aggiungono all’intensità dei profondi legni (liuto cantabile e mandola) di Mauro Palmas, ai suoni jazz e alla voce della tradizione campana nel ritmo ancestrale dei tamburi del sassofonista e compositore Enzo Avitabile, alla singolarissima forza espressiva della voce di Nando Citarella (Campania) e di Elena Ledda, instancabile ambasciatrice dell’isola nel mondo; e ancora Francesco Pilu, il Coro a Tenore San Gavino di Oniferi, Mario Brai, Francesca Corrias. Con Mauro Palmas sul palco inoltre il collaudato quartetto: Marcello Peghin alle chitarre, Silvano Lobina al basso, Andrea Ruggeri alla batteria, il sassofonista umbro David Brutti e gli Archaea String Quartet.

Mercoledì 24 luglio triplo live: alle 20.00 sul palco di Villa Muscas Luca Aquino, trombettista sicuramente tra i più interessanti talenti italiani, che presenterà in duo insieme a Carmine Ioanna alla fisarmonica il suo nuovo lavoro “aQustico”, quinta incisione a nome del giovane trombettista beneventano la cui generosità, curiosità e versatilità artistiche confermano la freschezza e l’originalità dei suoi lavori pubblicati.

Subito dopo doppio concerto imperdibile al Parco della Musica: alle 21.00 Hiromi, la giovane pianista e compositrice pluripremiata giapponese che ha incantato il pubblico e la critica mondiale con il suo album di debutto del 2003, Another Mind (Telarc). Con la sua ultima uscita discografica Move (2012) arriva a Cagliari con The Trio Project: Anthony Jackson al basso e alla batteria Simon Phillips, due musicisti formidabili. Alle 22.30 The Brecker Brother Reunion, la storica band funk e jazz-fusion guidata da Randy Brecker (Philadelphia), virtuoso della tromba e compositore tra i più apprezzati nella scena jazzistica mondiale che ha plasmato il suono del jazz, del R&B e del rock per più di quattro decenni.

Giovedì 25 luglio alle ore 20.00 appuntamento a Villa Muscas: ancora una volta il grande jazz di Rita Marcotulli fa tappa al Festival Internazionale Jazz in Sardegna stavolta con il nuovo progetto “Colours” e una formazione del tutto inedita: “Palle Daniellson al contrabbasso (Svezia) e Tore Brunborg al sax (Norvegia). Colours sarà replicato il 27 luglio alle 21.00 a Olbia all’Hotel Mercure con un organico ancora diverso: alla batteria stavolta ci sarà Michele Rabbia, uno dei grandi acrobati del ritmo e di tutto ciò che si può percuotere. Due concerti esclusivi che daranno vita a un disco live: una produzione originale di Jazz in Sardegna e S’Ardmusic. Alle 21.00 sempre di giovedì sul palco del Parco della Musica un altro evento con tre “star” del jazz, tra gli appuntamenti più attesi: ACS, acronimo di Allen (Geri), Carrington (Terri Lyne) e Spalding (Esperanza) che raccoglie tre delle più importanti strumentiste femminili del jazz contemporaneo: Geri Allen (piano), Terry Lyne Carrington (batteria) e la sorprendente giovanissima bassista, compositrice e vocalist statunitense Esperanza Spalding che ha catturato l’attenzione del mondo guadagnandosi il titolo di Best New Artist al 53° Annual Grammy Awards. Alle 22.30 sempre sul palco del Parco della Musica ritorna Enrico Rava con la PMJL (Parco della Musica Jazz Lab), musicista di fama internazionale, osannato sia dalla critica che dal pubblico, stavolta con il nuovo progetto “Lester! Omaggio a Lester Bowie”, in memoria di un altro genio del Novecento, uno dei trombettisti e compositori tra i più rivoluzionari del jazz contemporaneo e leader dei leggendari Art Ensemble of Chicago che arriva con la collaudatissima formazione dello scorso anno capitanata da Mauro Ottolini (arrangiamenti, trombone, tuba).

Venerdì 26 luglio triplo concerto: solita apertura di serata sul palco di Villa Muscas alle ore 20.00 con Stefano D’Anna, apprezzato sassofonista sulla scena jazzistica da oltre vent’anni, noto anche oltre i confini italiani per la sua spiccata sensibilità, le sue capacità espressive e l’esecuzione impeccabile. Soundscape, è il suggestivo paesaggio sonoro del suo nuovo progetto in quartetto con Enrico Bracco alla chitarra, Matteo Marongiu al contrabbasso e Gianrico Manca alla batteria. Alle 21.00 il testimone passerà a Irene Grandi nel palco centrale del Parco della Musica. Voce tra le più brillanti della musica italiana, porta a Cagliari il progetto esclusivo “Cinecittà”, accompagnata da nomi prestigiosi della scena nazionale come Rita Marcotulli (piano), Dario Deidda (contrabbasso), e Stefano Cantini (sassofono) e Alfredo Golino (batteria). Alle 22.30 gran finale sempre nell’Arena centrale con la dirompente energia del grande musicista e compositore balcanico Goran Bregovic con la sua Wedding&Funeral Band in un grande concerto di chiusura: le sonorità di una fanfara tzigana con le polifonie tradizionali bulgare, chitarre elettriche e percussioni tradizionali con delle accentuazioni rock, daranno vita ad una musica che sembra istintivamente di riconoscere e alla quale non sarà possibile resistere.
