MAPPAXI – IL PRIMO MAPPING PARTY A CAGLIARI – SABATO 1 GIUGNOMAPPAXI – THE FIRST MAPPING PARTY IN CAGLIARI – SATURDAY JUNE 1

Il 1° giugno 2013 alle 9:30 ci  ritroveremo nelle scalinate di Sant’Anna a Stampace per dar via al primo OpenStreetMap Mapping party cagliaritano. L’oggetto del nostro primo Mapping Party  è il quartiere storico di Stampace  già al centro delle iniziative di Stampaxi+ di Sardarch.
Cos’è OpenStreetMap?

OpenStreetMap (abbreviato OSM) è un progetto che punta a creare e fornire dati cartografici (ad esempio mappe stradali) liberi e gratuiti a chiunque ne abbia bisogno. Il progetto è stato lanciato perché la gran parte delle mappe che potresti pensare essere gratuite hanno invece restrizioni legali o tecniche al loro uso, restrizioni che  impediscono alle persone l’ uso per scopi produttivi, creativi ed altro (maggiori informazioni in questo articolo).
In cosa consiste un mapping party?

Il Mapping Party è un evento durante il quale appassionati o semplici curiosi  si riuniscono in un determinato luogo  per mapparlo. Si tratta di un evento altamente sociale dove le persone si incontrano e si confrontano, intervallando sessioni di mapping vero e proprio.

Tutti possono partecipare al party, non è necessaria alcuna precedente esperienza di questo tipo.

Una sessione di mapping consiste nella raccolta di dati relativi alle strade, i luoghi noti o di pubblica utilità,  ma il sistema estremamente flessibile di OSM permette di mappare anche oggetti non presenti nelle mappe convenzionali come  lampioni  fontanelle d’acqua pubblica, panchine, monumenti ecc.

È un’attività che si può fare a piedi, in bicicletta o in auto, in gruppo o da soli, con il GPS,  con un semplice blocco notes, con una fotocopia di un’immagine satellitare, per non parlare delle numerose  app disponibili per smartphone.
Cosa faremo nel dettaglio?

Ci divideremo in piccoli gruppi ognuno dei quali sarà capitanato da un volontario più esperto. Ogni gruppo disporrà degli strumenti basilari per la mappatura (mappe su carta e app per  la raccolta dati) e si concentrerà su una differente area del quartiere, così da rendere la raccolta dati il più ricca , dettagliata e diversificata possibile. I dati raccolti durante il mapping party verranno poi inseriti in OpenStreetMap durante i nostri Osm Mapping Meetings .

What is OpenStreetMap?

What is a mapping party?

A session mapping consists of the collection of data related to roads, places known or utilities, but the highly flexible system of OSM also allows you to map objects not present in the maps as conventional streetlights public water fountains, benches, monuments etc. .

It is an activity that can be done on foot, by bike or car, in a group or alone, with GPS, with a simple notepad, with a photocopy of a satellite image, not to mention the many apps available for smartphone.
What will we do in detail?

We will divide into small groups, each of which will be led by a more experienced volunteer. Each group will have the basic tools for mapping (maps on paper and app data collection) and will focus on a different area of ​​the district, so as to make the data collection as rich, detailed and diverse as possible. The data collected during the mapping party will be inserted in OpenStreetMap during our OSM Mapping Meetings.
