In scena c’è Teresina, la più piccola delle sorelle Gramsci, forse la preferita, quella con cui Antonio ha condiviso molti momenti della sua infanzia.
È lei che, donna fatta, ci restituisce questa parte della storia.
Quella di lei bambina e delle sue sorelle e fratelli che ancora non sanno e non avvertono lo strano destino che incombe sulla Famiglia.
È un omaggio alla figura della Madre di Antonio Gramsci – una sorta di “madre courage” a tutti gli effetti – che di fronte alle più grandi avversità – si rimbocca le maniche e lavora, lavora, lavora s’impegna caparbiamente, fino in fondo.

È anche la voglia di raccontare un Antonio meno conosciuto.
L’occasione d’interrogarsi su quanto la vita di un uomo sia stretta intessuta alla vita degli altri tanto da esserne il riflesso, l’estensione, il proseguimento nei gesti, negli ideali, nelle aspettative.
Questa vita impastata di relazioni, privazioni, disavventure, e struggimenti onirici – fanno delle sorelle di Antonio e di sua madre – dei varchi verso il mondo, delle strade da percorrere per rompere l’isolamento del carcere e mantenere il legame verso la sua terra.
Teresina, ci regala un Antonio bambino che fragile e determinato coglie le sfide del destino senza esitazioni.
E le donne di casa, lo sostengono e lo amano fino al termine dei suoi giorni.

On stage there Teresina, the youngest of the sisters Gramsci, perhaps the favorite, the one with which Antonio shared many moments of his childhood.
It is she who, grown woman, gives us this part of the story.
That of her child and her sisters and brothers who still do not know and do not feel the strange fate that hangs on the Family.
It is a tribute to the figure of the Mother of Antonio Gramsci – a sort of “mother courage” to all intents and purposes – that in the face of the greatest adversity – rolls up his sleeves and work, work, work undertakes stubbornly to the end.

It is also the desire to tell a lesser-known Antonio.
The opportunity to question about how much a man’s life is closely interwoven with the life of others so as to be the reflection, the extension, continuation in the gestures, in the ideals, expectations.
This life of mixed relationships, hardships, mishaps, and yearnings dream – make the sisters of Antonio and his mother – the gates to the world, of the roads to break the isolation of the prison and maintain the link to his own land.
Teresina, Antonio gives us a fragile child and determined that captures the challenges of fate without hesitation.
And the women of the house, support him and love him until the end of his days.
