Avete mai provato, anche solo per un istante, l’impulso irresistibile di abbandonare la vostra ordinata esistenza per seguire un’ombra? Questo è ciò che accade al protagonista di Treno di notte per Lisbona Raimund Gregorius, grigio e solitario professore di latino che un giorno, dopo aver salvato la vita a una misteriosa giovane che minaccia di gettarsi da un ponte di Berna, sale su un treno in corsa. Destinazione: Lisbona. A guidarlo è il libro trovato nella tasca del cappotto rosso che la ragazza ha dimenticato prima di scomparire, libro che raccoglie le memorie del medico portoghese, rivoluzionario e filosofo Amadeu de Prado. Tra le pagine Gregorius scova un biglietto per un notturno che parte dopo un quarto d’ora e senza pensarci due volte sale sul treno. Ha inizio così un’avventura epica e intima al tempo stesso che spinge il professore, interpretato dalla star Jeremy Irons, ad avventurarsi per i vicoli angusti e pittoreschi di Lisbona sulle tracce di Amadeu, dei suoi amici, dei familiari, dei suoi ideali e dell’amore per la volitiva Estefania.

Perché vederlo:
Adattamento del romanzo di Pascal Mercier, Treno di notte per Lisbona è un melodramma con elementi avventurosi e mystery ambientato a Lisbona, e la cui trama si allaccia anche al passato per raccontare uno scenario politico quale fu il regime dittatoriale di António de Oliveira Salazar in Portogallo. Nel cast del film Jeremy Irons nel ruolo del protagonista, quindi Melanie Laurent, Charlotte Rampling e Christopher Lee.

“La chirurgia estetica come metafora di quello che succede oggi

Trama

Bella è una splendida ed esuberante conduttrice di un famoso programma televisivo sulla chirurgia estetica. René, suo marito, è un medico chirurgo che, nello stesso programma, effettua gli interventi sugli ospiti. All’improvviso Bella viene licenziata perché gli ascolti dello show sono in calo e il pubblico è stanco ormai di vedere la sua faccia. Bella, infuriata, lascia lo studio televisivo e, sulla via del ritorno a casa, ha un brutto incidente d’auto che la lascia sfigurata. Quello che potrebbe sembrare il colpo di grazia che sancisce la fine della carriera di Bella, si rivela essere un’ottima occasione per rilanciare la propria immagine.
Surreale, grottesco e intriso di ironia cinica, il film di Pappi Corsicato (l’autore di Libera, I Buchi neri e del più recente Il seme della discordia) è una riflessione sul concetto dell’apparire e della sua esasperazione ai giorni nostri, che affronta anche temi legati alla chirurgia estetica e al sensazionalismo televisivo. Nei panni di una conduttrice televisiva c’è Laura Chiatti, mentre Alessandro Preziosi è suo marito, un chirurgo estetico anche lui impegnato in televisione.

Augusta è una giovane donna in viaggio. Lasciata l’Italia per il Brasile, si lascia portare dalla corrente del fiume, approdando sulle sponde e nella vita degli indios che suor Franca, amica della madre, vuole evangelizzare a colpi di preghiera e bambinelli luminescenti. Sorda al richiamo di qualsiasi dio e refrattaria alla condotta missionaria, Augusta sceglie laicamente di “essere terra”, proseguendo da sola e affittando una stanza a Manaus, capitale dell’Amazonas sulla riva del Rio Negro. Decisa a dare un senso alla sua ‘navigazione’ si stabilisce nella favela, dove la povertà è lambita da una ricchezza che compra uomini, donne e bambini. Accolta da Arizete, madre e nonna dentro una famiglia numerosa, Augusta trova nelle relazioni umane consolazione al suo dolore e al suo lutto: un bambino perduto, un marito dileguato, una vita disfatta. Ma l’afflizione di una nuova amica la persuade a riprendere il viaggio e il fiume. Sbarcata su un’isola si esclude dal mondo e dagli uomini, sprofondando nei silenzi interiori e nei suoni ancestrali della natura.
Alla maniera dei suoi personaggi, i film di Giorgio Diritti sono gioielli (in)visibili che si affermano con la propria forza e la propria grazia. Orgogliosamente indipendenti, sfidano le logiche produttive e l’indifferenza dei distributori, scoprono mondi, volti, corpi e paesaggi come da tempo non si vedevano nel cinema italiano. Un giorno devi andare non fa eccezione e rilancia con sguardo limpido ed esatto quel sentimento della comunità già emerso ne Il vento fa il suo giro e in L’uomo che verrà. Dopo essersi trattenuto coi valligiani tra i monti della Val Maira e dopo aver ‘resistito’ con i contadini bolognesi sulle montagne di Monte Sole, Diritti lascia la terra per risalire il fiume e la vita di una giovane donna ‘interrotta’ da un dolore che diventa opportunità di (ri)scoprirsi. La comunità che ne Il vento fa il suo giro boicottava i nuovi venuti fino a estrometterli dal villaggio in Un giorno devi andare è umanità accogliente e fidente. La favela di Manaus è luogo geografico e luogo dell’anima in cui Augusta diventa personalità insostituibile al di là delle tentazioni di fuga dal reale e di illusoria autorealizzazione nel privato. La dialettica tra individuo e comunità assume allora un valore definitivo per la coscienza personalista, superando la ricerca di un’originalità estenuante, individualistica e individualizzante. La perdita del suo bambino, e la conseguente sterilità, le impediscono di concepire ma non di essere madre e di avere cura degli altri, che da quella parte del mondo non hanno paura di ‘farsi insegnare’ da un forestiero.
Sensibile e generosa, l’Augusta di Jasmine Trinca contrappone il dialogo e il monologo (interiore) al soliloquio religioso, riconoscendo il valore della diversità culturale e il valore della sua comprensione. Se gli indigeni sono per lei il termine di paragone con un passato di purezza perduta e la favela terreno di socialità, solidarietà e convivialità, Augusta ‘incarna’ per i favelados la speranza di dare nuova vita a una comunità (e)marginalizzata e alla mercé dei narcotrafficanti che agiscono con modalità speculari allo Stato. Ancora una volta la prospettiva, etica, estetica e antropologica, che l’autore bolognese assume è quella degli umili, vittime di un controverso progetto di urbanizzazione della favela, perseverato con meccanismi opachi di selezione dei beneficiari che finiscono per produrre forti competizioni e ostacolare le iniziative solidali di mobilitazioni. Da quell’ordine precario, che può crollare in ogni istante al modo di una baracca dopo una piena, da quell'”insuperabile povertà” e da quell’essere fuori e tuttavia appartenere ripartirà di nuovo la protagonista, scegliendo la solitudine come modalità radicale di separazione.
Battuta dal vento e dai marosi come la spiaggia bianca che la ‘ricovera’, Augusta congela il desiderio di essere collegata, vicina, prossima all’altro. Almeno fino a quando un bambino ‘venuto dal mare’ non la rimetterà al mondo, riparando un’assenza ‘cullata’ dentro l’ecografia che avvia il film e dissolve sul fiume. Perché il vento fa il suo giro e tutto ritorna.

Have you ever tried, even if only for a moment, the irresistible impulse to abandon your orderly life to follow a shadow? This is what happens to the protagonist of Night Train to Lisbon Raimund Gregorius, gray and solitary Latin teacher that one day, after having saved the life of a mysterious young man who threatens to jump from a bridge in Bern, on a train in race. Destination: Lisbon. A guide is the book found in the pocket of the red coat that she has forgotten before disappearing, a book that collects the memories of the Portuguese doctor, revolutionary and philosopher Amadeu de Prado. “Cosmetic surgery as a metaphor for what is happening today

Plot

Bella is a beautiful and exuberant host of a popular television program on cosmetic surgery. René, her husband, is a surgeon who, in the same program, performs operations on guests. Suddenly Bella gets fired because the ratings of the show are down and the public is now tired of seeing his face. Beautiful, angry, leave the TV studio, and on the way back home, he has a bad car accident that left her disfigured. What may seem the coup de grace that marks the end of the career of Bella, turns out to be an excellent opportunity to revitalize its image.
Surreal, grotesque and full of cynical irony, the movie Pappi Corsica (the author of Freedom, Holes blacks and the most recent seed of discord) is a reflection on the concept of appearing and his exasperation to the present day, which also addresses issues related to cosmetic surgery and sensationalism television. In the shoes of a TV presenter is Laura Chiatti, while Alessandro Preziosi is her husband, a plastic surgeon who was also involved in television.

Augusta is a young woman on the go. After leaving Italy to Brazil, she gets carried away by the current of the river, landing on the shores and in the lives of the Indians that Sister Franca, a friend of the mother, wants to evangelize shots of prayer and little children luminescent. Deaf to the call of any god and refractory to conduct missionary, Augusta secularly choose to be “earth”, continuing alone and renting a room in Manaus, capital of Amazonas on the bank of the Rio Negro.
