Dopo il trasferimento da Palermo in Sardegna nel giugno 2010 in seguito a un incarico di insegnamento presso il conservatorio di Cagliari, il sassofonista e compositore Stefano D’Anna ha iniziato diverse collaborazioni con musicisti della scena del capoluogo sardo, come Francesca Corrias, con cui ha preso parte alla realizzazione del cd “Songshine”, il New Ensemble di Paolo Carrus, con cui ha preso parte all’incisione del cd “Open View”, entrambi pubblicati dalla S’ard Music, il giovane contrabbassista Matteo Marongiu, con l’incisione del cd “Open Letter to Mingus”, pubblicato da Improvisatore Involontario, e il batterista Gianrico Manca.

Parallelamente ha formato un trio con una delle più solide ritmiche dell’isola, Matteo Marongiu al contrabbasso e Gianrico Manca alla batteria, con cui ha proseguito il lavoro a un progetto dedicato a sue composizioni, Soundscape, con l’aggiunta di Enrico Bracco, chitarrista romano tra i più interessanti della scena nazionale.

La musica del quartetto si distingue per il suo dinamismo e per la tensione espressiva che accompagna le esecuzioni della band nella grande varietà di situazioni musicali proposte.

Una delle caratteristiche di Soundscape è lo spiccato senso collettivo della narrazione musicale – spontaneamente ricercato e attuato dai quattro musicisti, in ognuno dei quali accanto alle notevoli doti tecniche convive una particolare sensibilità espressiva – tramite il quale la band riesce a condurre le proprie esibizioni attraverso l’invenzione, lo sviluppo e la risoluzione di dinamiche esecutive al tempo stesso molto efficaci ed eleganti, il tutto senza perdere mai di vista la spontaneità della scoperta e la comunicativa con gli ascoltatori.

At the same time he formed a trio with one of the most solid rhythm of the island, Matteo Marongiu on bass and Gianrico missing on drums, with whom he continued to work on a project dedicated to his compositions, Soundscape, with the addition of Enrico Bracco, guitarist Roman among the most interesting of the national scene.

The music of the quartet stands out for its dynamism and expressive tension that accompanies the performances of the band in the wide variety of musical proposals.

One of the characteristics of Soundscape is the strong collective sense of musical narrative – spontaneously researched and implemented by four musicians, each of which coexists alongside the considerable technical skills particularly sensitive expression – through which the band is able to conduct their performances through the ‘invention, development and resolution of dynamic executive at the same time very effective and stylish, all without ever losing sight of the spontaneity of discovery and communication with the audience.
