Il film è la storia di Hushpuppy, una bambina di sei anni che vive con Wink, papà severo ma affettuoso, nella comunità soprannominata Bathtub (La Grande Vasca), una zona paludosa di un delta del Sud americano. Wink, che ha contratto una grave malattia, sta preparando Hushpuppy a vivere in un mondo dove non ci sarà più lui a proteggerla. Inoltre la Grande Vasca è alla vigilia di una catastrofe di epiche proporzioni : gli equilibri naturali si infrangono, i ghiacci si sciolgono ed arrivano gli Aurochs, misteriose creature preistoriche. A Hushpuppy non resta che cercare di sopravvivere e mettersi alla ricerca della madre, che per lei è solo un vago ricordo.

Un ritratto del presidente che ha abolito la schiavitù in America e cambiato il corso della storia

Steven Spielberg dirige un biopic sul sedicesimo presidente degli Stati Uniti d’America, Abraham Lincoln. Basato sul best seller Team of Rivals, scritto dal drammaturgo Tony Kushner, il film è incentrato sullo scontro politico tra Lincoln e i potenti uomini del suo gabinetto per l’abolizione dalla schiavitù degli afroamericani alla fine della Guerra civile. In un paese diviso dal conflitto e dai grandi venti del cambiamento, Lincoln persegue una linea d’azione volta a far finire la guerra, unire la nazione e abolire la schiavitù. Grazie alla sua moralità e alla feroce determinazione che scaturisce dal desiderio di ottenere il successo, le scelte del presidente muteranno il destino delle generazioni a venire.
È Daniel Day-Lewis – attorniato da un cast di stelle – a interpretare la parte del presidente che ha cambiato per sempre il corso della storia, in un film in odore di Oscar.

Questo grande film, perchè di grande film si tratta, vuole parlare ad un pubblico estremamente colto ed informato sui fatti, non credo venga premiato dal boxoffice e potrebbe pure essere maltrattato dalla critica.
Ciò a noi poco importa, è una meraviglia, una cupa, pesantissima, complessa, difficile, meraviglia. In alcuni momenti sembra di assistere “alla storia” in tempo reale, quasi di farne parte.
Attori straordinari.

Wink, who contracted a serious illness, Hushpuppy is preparing to live in a world where there will be more to protect him. In addition, the Great Bath is on the brink of a catastrophe of epic proportions: the balance of nature break, the ice melts and there’s the Aurochs, mysterious prehistoric creatures. A Hushpuppy do is try to survive and go in search of his mother, that she is just a vague memory.

A portrait of the president who abolished slavery in America and changed the course of history

This great movie, because it is a great film, wants to talk to an audience highly educated and informed on the facts, I do not think will be rewarded by the box office and may also be abused by critics.
This does not matter to us, it is a wonder, a dark, heavy, complex, difficult, wonderful. In some moments seems to watch “history” in real time, as part of it.
