C’era una volta un gessaio che aveva parecchi asini, brutti, magri e tutti storti. A lui non servivano belli perchè li caricava di sacchi di gesso che portava a questo e a quello. Tra tutti questi asini brutti magri e storti ne aveva uno…. che era il più brutto; era brutto, ma brutto, cos“ brutto che viene male dirlo perchè era pur sempre una creatura. Un giorno il Re dovette spedire una lettera al Re suo vicino, con cui non andava per
niente d’accordo, e voleva la risposta immediatamente. I consiglieri cercarono di fargli capire che non esisteva un cavallo capace di percorrere una distanza cos“ lunga in cos“ breve tempo… Si presentò soltanto
il gessaio a cavalcioni di uno dei suoi asini, proprio quello magro, brutto, storto, sporco, spelacchiato con la coda scorticata, le gambe rovinate da sembrare in piedi per miracolo…
