È giunto alla quarta edizione l’evento estivo “La Bastida di Sorres”, voluto e organizzato dal comune di Borutta per valorizzare e far conoscere la ricchezza di storia e natura del colle su cui sorge la superba cattedrale-abazia romanica di San Pietro.
Saranno più di 130 i figuranti che ridaranno vita alla battaglia del 1334, quando i Doria tentarono di riconquistare l’antica fortezza di Sorres, caduta in mano degli Aragonesi. L’offerta si arricchisce quest’anno di convegni e di ulteriori espositori.

Un pò di storia:
Nel colle dove sorge l’antica cattedrale di San Pietro, esisteva un tempo una città. Delle antiche case, delle antiche strade, nulla più rimane. Eppure la vita, lassù a Sorres, scorreva tra i quartieri, la si avvertiva nel vociare degli abitanti e dei viaggiatori o si fermava con rispetto durante le numerose cerimonie che si svolgevano nella mistica penombra di San Pietro. Non era una normale cittadina: era la sede dell’influente vescovo di Sorres, figura prestigiosa dell’antico Meilogu e di tutto il regno di Logudoro. Tra le pareti del monastero benedettino, un tempo i vescovi avevano i loro appartamenti. Qui vi dimorò proprio in qualità di vescovo Goffredo di Meleduno, il monaco infermiere di Chiaravalle, conoscente (se non amico) di San Bernardo. L’attuale aspetto della cattedrale di San Pietro, unico superbo testimone dell’antica città, lo si deve al monaco francese. Tra la folla in festa, non mancavano le visite dei Giudici e delle eminenze di Torres o di altri regni, né erano assenti altri momenti di forte coinvolgimento della comunità…
Ma col ‘300, i venti di guerra che coinvolsero la Sardegna non risparmiarono neppure Sorres. Contesa dalla signoria dei Doria, dai neo-conquistatori Aragonesi e dai giudici di Arborea, l’antica città venne fortificata: divenne una bastida e da qui, nell’agosto del 1347, partì l’esercito dei Doria per sterminare i catalani ad Aidu de Turdu.
Poi, tra carestie, epidemie, guerre e rappresaglie, il declino fu inesorabile. Le foto della fine dell’ottocento ritraggono un colle spoglio: i frontoni dell’antica cattedrale e i ruderi tra il grano diventarono per secoli gli unici testimoni dei fasti del passato.

La Sorres di oggi tuttavia ha ripreso vita, sebbene in forme diverse. Il silenzio del colle, le sue bellezze artistiche e naturalistiche e la spiritualità del monastero ne fanno meta di numerosi viaggiatori alla ricerca di fede, natura, arte e storia.

Durante BASTIDA DI SORRES assisterete alla vestizione di un cavaliere così come avveniva nel pieno trecento; conoscerete i colori, i profumi, le abilità degli artigiani e le suggestioni di una fiera medievale; non mancheranno neppure gli eserciti di qualche signore straniero che tenteranno di impadronirsi dell’antica bastida, tra il clangore delle armi, alla ricerca di epiche imprese e ricchi bottini….

Riusciranno i difensori a respingere l’assedio?

 

VENERDI 22 AGOSTO

Dalle ore 9:00 alle ore 13:00 – Allestimento del campo militare da parte dei gruppi partecipanti alla manifestazione. Il campo sarà comprensivo di tende, armerie, trabucco (antica arma d’assedio), fucina di un fabbro, cucina da campo, catapulta;

Allestimento del mercato medievale e ricostruzione di scene artigianali del tempo: lavorazione del metallo, produzione della ceramica, lavorazione dei tessuti, scriptorium medievale, bottega dell’artista, bottega del tintore e del farmacista;

Ore 16:00 – apertura del campo al pubblico. Sarà possibile osservare gli artigiani al lavoro, le varie collezioni di armamenti e di oggetti di uso quotidiano, assistere a ricostruzioni di scene di vita dell’epoca, effettuare diversi percorsi didattici presso le varie postazioni artigiane presenti nel campo (maniscalco, arcieria, armeria, tessitura, fabro, ect);

Dalle ore 18:00 circa alle ore 19:00 balletti medievali;

Dalle ore 19.00 circa alle ore 20:30 dimostrazioni di tecniche di spada “in camicia”;
Dalle ore 20:30 alle ore 21:00, visita al campo;

Il campo militare e il mercato potranno essere visitati gratuitamente per tutta la durata della manifestazione sino alle ore 22:00.

18:00 – La falconeria e l’arte della caccia: esposizione dei rapaci.

SABATO 23 AGOSTO

Dalle ore 9:30 alle ore 13:00 –  Apertura del campo al pubblico. Sarà possibile osservare gli artigiani al lavoro, le varie collezioni di armamenti e di oggetti di uso quotidiano, vedere da vicino una catapulta realmente funzionante, assistere a ricostruzioni di scene di vita dell’epoca, sarò possibile effettuare diversi percorsi didattici presso le varie postazione artigiane presenti nel campo (maniscalco, arcieria, armeria, tessitura, fabro, ect);

10:00 – Inaugurazione mostra mercato dei prodotti tipici del territorio;

10:30 – Visite guidate al museo e alla Cattedrale di San Pietro di Sorres, alla grotta Ulàri, allo spazio informativo e didattico sulla grotta e sulle sue peculiarità faunistiche e alle vecchie fornaci;

Dalle 11:00 alle ore 13:00 – Tiri con l’arco storico e con la balestra manesca;

12:00 – La falconeria e l’arte della caccia con i rapaci: esibizione del falconiere al lavoro con i suoi rapaci;

13:30 – Pranzo, a base di pesce alla griglia, presso il piazzale di Sorres (Ticket euro 6,00 a persona);

Dalle ore 15:00 – Apertura del campo al pubblico. Sarà possibile osservare gli artigiani al lavoro, le varie collezioni di armamenti e di oggetti di uso quotidiano, il campo del maniscalco, vedere da vicino una catapulta realmente funzionante, assistere a ricostruzioni di scene di vita dell’epoca, duelli e combattimenti.

16:00 – Anteprima concerto polifonico “Voci d’Europa” con i cori “La rosa dei venti” (Italia) e “Kammerchor Saarbrücken” (Germania);

17:00 – La falconeria e l’arte della caccia con i rapaci – Esibizione del falconiere al lavoro con i suoi rapaci;

18:00 – Vespri gregoriani in Cattedrale;

Dalle ore 18:30 alle ore 20:00 ricostruzione della battalgia “Assalto alla Bastida di Sorres”

19:00 – Concerto polifonico “Voci d’Europa” con i cori “La rosa dei venti” (Italia) e “Kammerchor Saarbrücken” (Germania);

Dalle ore 20:30 alle ore 21:00 sarà possibile visitare il campo.

21:15 – Concerto di musica irlandese con il gruppo “Glee’s”.

 

DOMENICA 24 AGOSTO

8:30 – Convegno “Limba e limbàgiu tècnicu in meighina” – Presso l’Aula Capitolare del Monastero Benedettino “San Pietro di Sorres”;

09:30 – Visite guidate al museo e alla Cattedrale di San Pietro di Sorres, alla grotta Ulàri, allo spazio informativo e didattico sulla grotta e sulle sue peculiarità faunistiche;

Dalle ore 9:30 alle ore 13:00 – Apertura del campo al pubblico. Sarà possibile osservare gli artigiani al lavoro, le varie collezioni di armamenti e di oggetti di uso quotidiano, il campo del maniscalco, vedere da vicino una catapulta realmente funzionante, assistere a ricostruzioni di scene di vita dell’epoca, duelli e combattimenti.

10:00 – Mostra mercato dei prodotti tipici del territorio;

11:00 – Santa messa in Cattedrale, celebrata dai monaci benedettini;

11:30 – Gara di tiro con l’arco storico;

12:30 – La falconeria e l’arte della caccia con i rapaci: esibizione del falconiere al lavoro con i suoi rapaci;

16:00 – Simulazione di combattimenti nell’accampamento medievale;

Dalle ore 17:00 alle ore 17:30 – Balletti medievali;

18:00 – Vespri gregoriani in cattedrale;

19:00 – All’interno dell’Abbazia di San Pietro di Sorres si terrà l’investitura del Cavaliere.

Dalle ore 19:00 alle ore 20:00 – Combattimenti di squadra a contatto pieno;

20:00 – Cena, a base di carne di vitello arrosto, presso il parcheggio di Sorres (ticket 6 euro a persona).

It is now in its fourth edition, the summer event “La Bastida Sorres”, organized by the city and wanted to Borutta to enhance and make known the riches of history and nature of the hill on which stands the superb cathedral-Romanesque abbey of San Pietro.
They will be more than 130 figures that will give life to the battle of 1334, when Doria tried to recapture the ancient fortress of Sorres, fell into the hands of the Aragonese. The offer is enriched this year with conferences and more exhibitors.

A bit of history:
In the hill where the ancient cathedral of St. Peter, there was a time a city. Of the old houses, old streets, nothing more remains. Yet life up there in Sorres, flowed between the districts, was felt in the voices of the inhabitants and travelers or stopped with respect during the several ceremonies that took place in the mystical twilight of San Pietro. It was not a normal town: it was the seat of the influential bishop of Sorres, prestigious figure of the ancient Meilogu and all the kingdom of Logudoro. Between the walls of the Benedictine monastery, once the bishops had their apartments. Here lived there just as a bishop Godfrey of Meleduno, the monaco nurse of Clairvaux, acquaintance (if not friend) of San Bernardo. The current aspect of the Cathedral of St. Peter, superb unique witness of the ancient city, it is due to monaco French. Among the cheering crowd, there were the visits of the Judges and of the masterminds of Torres or other kingdoms, nor were absent at other times of strong community involvement …
But with the ‘300, the winds of war that involved the Sardinia did not spare even Sorres. Contention from the dominion of the Doria, the neo-conquerors Aragonese and the Judges of Arborea, the ancient city was fortified: it became a bastida and from there, in August 1347, he left the army to exterminate the Catalans to Doria de Aidu Turdu.
Then, in famines, epidemics, wars and reprisals, the decline was inexorable. The photos of the late nineteenth century depicting a bare hill: the gables of the old cathedral and the ruins of the grain became for centuries the only witnesses of its past splendor.

The Sorres today, however, came back to life, albeit in different forms. The silence of the hill, its artistic and natural beauty and spirituality of the monastery make it a destination for many travelers in search of faith, nature, art and history.

During BASTIDA Sorres witness the investiture of a knight as was done in the full three hundred; know the colors, the smells, the skills of the craftsmen and the charm of a medieval fair; will not miss even the armies of some foreign gentleman who try to seize the ancient bastida, including the clash of arms, in search of epic business and the rich spoils ….

Will the defenders to repel the siege?

FRIDAY, Aug. 22

From 9:00 to 13:00 – Setting up the military camp by groups participating in the event. The field will be comprised of tents, armories, trebuchet (an ancient siege weapon), a blacksmith’s forge, field kitchen, catapult;

Preparation of the medieval market and reconstruction of scenes craft time: metalworking, production of ceramics, textile manufacturing, medieval scriptorium, artist’s studio, dyer’s workshop and the pharmacist;

16:00 – Opening of the field to the public. It will be possible to observe the craftsmen at work, the various collections of arms and objects of daily use, to assist with re-enactments of scenes from the life of the time, make several educational courses at various locations in the craft field (blacksmith, archery, armory, weaving, smith, ect);

From around 18:00 to 19:00 ballets medieval;

From about 19:00 to 20:30 demonstrations of sword techniques “poached”;
From 20:30 to 21:00, visit to the camp;

The military and the market can be visited free of charge for the duration of the event until 22:00.

18:00 – The art of falconry and hunting exhibition of birds of prey.

Saturday, August 23

From 9:30 to 13:00 – Opening of the field to the public. It will be possible to observe the craftsmen at work, the various collections of arms and objects of daily use, a closer look at a catapult really works, assist in the reconstruction of scenes from the life of the time, I can make different educational paths at the various craft station present in the field (blacksmith, archery, armory, weaving, smith, ect);

10:00 – Opening of the exhibition market of local products;

10:30 am – Guided tours of the museum and the Cathedral of San Pietro di Sorres, the cave Ulàri, the information space and learning about the cave and its characteristic fauna and old furnaces;

From 11:00 to 13:00 – Shooting with bow and crossbow historical manesca;

12:00 – The art of falconry and hunting with birds of prey: performance by the falconer to work with its prey;

13:30 – Lunch, fish grilled at the forecourt of Sorres (Ticket € 6.00 per person);

15:00 – Opening of the field to the public. It will be possible to observe the craftsmen at work, the various collections of arms and objects of daily use, the field of farrier, a closer look at a catapult really works, assist in the reconstruction of scenes from the life of the time, duels and battles.

16:00 – Preview polyphonic concert “Voices of Europe” with the chorus “La rosa dei venti” (Italy) and “Saarbrucken Chamber Choir” (Germany);

17:00 – The art of falconry and hunting with birds of prey – Performance by the falconer to work with its prey;

18:00 – Gregorian Vespers in the Cathedral;

From 18:30 to 20:00 reconstruction of battalgia “Assault on Bastida Sorres”

19:00 – Concerto polyphonic “Voices of Europe” with the chorus “La rosa dei venti” (Italy) and “Saarbrucken Chamber Choir” (Germany);

From 20:30 to 21:00 will be able to visit the camp.

21:15 – Concert of Irish music with the band “Glee’s”.

Sunday, August 24

8:30 am – Conference “Limba and limbàgiu tècnicu in meighina” – At the Chapter House of the Benedictine Monastery “St. Peter Sorres”;

09:30 – Guided tours of the museum and the Cathedral of San Pietro di Sorres, the cave Ulàri, informational and educational space on the cave fauna and its peculiarities;

From 9:30 to 13:00 – Opening of the field to the public. It will be possible to observe the craftsmen at work, the various collections of arms and objects of daily use, the field of farrier, a closer look at a catapult really works, assist in the reconstruction of scenes from the life of the time, duels and battles.

10:00 – Show market for local products;

11:00 – Holy Mass in the Cathedral, celebrated by Benedictine monks;

11:30 – Race archery historian;

12:30 – The art of falconry and hunting with birds of prey: performance by the falconer to work with its prey;

16:00 – Simulation of medieval battles in the camp;

From 17:00 to 17:30 – Ballets medieval;

18:00 – Gregorian Vespers in the cathedral;

19:00 – Inside the Abbey of San Pietro di Sorres will be held the investiture of Knight.

From 19:00 to 20:00 – Fights team full contact;

20:00 – Dinner, meat roast veal, at the parking lot of Sorres (ticket 6 € per person).
