Dall’8 al 16 agosto ritorna, puntuale come ogni estate, Time in Jazz, il festival fondato nel 1988 e diretto da Paolo Fresu nel suo paese natale, Berchidda (in provincia di Olbia-Tempio), quest’anno al traguardo della ventiseiesima edizione. Un’edizione che, completato (l’anno scorso) il ciclo quadriennale dedicato ai quattro elementi naturali (aria, acqua, terra e fuoco), sceglie come titolo e tema caratterizzante Il Quinto Elemento. “Un tema apparentemente labile e misterioso” che “tocca religione e filosofia, medicina e psicologia ma anche chimica, astrologia e pensiero offrendoci spunti interessanti per divagare intorno al tema attraverso la musica e l’arte”, come spiega Fresu nelle sue note di presentazione.

L’impianto del festival è quello consueto, e prevede ancora una volta una settimana con tanta musica (e non solo), da vivere in luoghi e contesti differenti. Berchidda, naturalmente, resta il centro del circuito di concerti che quest’anno farà tappa in dodici centri diversi del nord Sardegna: Ardara, Budoni, Calangianus, Chiaramonti, Ittireddu, Mores, Ozieri, Pattada, Posada, Telti, Tula, Tempio Pausania. Un circuito che vedrà scendere “in pista” musicisti internazionali del calibro di Joshua Redman, Django Bates, Jaques Morelenbaum, il trio Medeski Martin & Wood, il coro A Filetta, gli italiani Ludovico Einaudi, Petrina, Daniele Di Bonaventura, Mauro Ottolini, Tino Tracanna, i percussionisti del Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble, oltre ai sardi Salvatore Maiore, Francesca Corrias, Peo Alfonsi, la Funky Jazz Orchestra, la Banda Musicale “Bernardo De Muro” di Berchidda e lo stesso Paolo Fresu. A giochi conclusi, anche quest’anno – ed è il settimo consecutivo – Time in Jazz passerà poi il testimone al suo “prolungamento” nel Sassarese: il 17 e 18 agosto ritorna infatti la rassegna Time in Sassari, che oltre al capoluogo turritano, andrà a far visita a Cheremule, Osilo, Ploaghe e Sorso.

Più di trenta concerti, vari appuntamenti collaterali, oltre al consueto apparato di mostre, performance ed eventi espositivi del P.A.V., il Progetto Arti Visive curato da Giannella Demuro e Antonello Fresu, l’altrettanto immancabile rassegna di film e documentari curata dal regista Gianfranco Cabiddu, e l’ormai abituale serie di iniziative di promozione e sensibilizzazione ambientale del programma Green Jazz: così l’associazione culturale Time in Jazz allestisce ancora una volta un fitto cartellone, reso possibile grazie al contributo del Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali (Direzione Generale per lo Spettacolo dal vivo), della Regione Autonoma della Sardegna (Assessorato della Pubblica Istruzione, Beni Culturali, Informazione, Spettacolo e Sport, e Assessorato del Turismo), della Fondazione Banco di Sardegna, del Comune di Berchidda, dell’Unione Europea, della Comunità Montana del Monte Acuto e dei Comuni di Ardara, Budoni, Calangianus, Cheremule, Chiaramonti, Ittireddu, Mores, Osilo, Ozieri, Pattada, Ploaghe Posada, Sassari, Sorso, Telti, Tempio Pausania, Tula, con la partecipazione di Ente Foreste della Sardegna, Banco di Sardegna, Corsica Ferries – Sardinia Ferries, Agenzia Laore Sardegna, Ichnusa, Geasar, Clarin Italia, Jazz Hotel, Secauto, associazione culturale Boghes de Cheremule, A.S.CU.N.A.S., Ente Musicale di Nuoro e I-Jazz.

Al via l’8 agosto

Time in Jazz salpa le ancore l’8 agosto con l’ormai abituale concerto a bordo di una nave della Corsica Sardinia Ferries in viaggio dalla Penisola alla Sardegna. Il compito di accompagnare la traversata del Tirreno da Civitavecchia (partenza ore 13) alla volta del porto di Golfo Aranci (arrivo ore 19.45) spetta stavolta proprio a Paolo Fresu con Daniele Di Bonaventura: un sodalizio ben rodato quello del trombettista sardo e del bandoneonista marchigiano, già protagonisti, insieme alle voci corse del coro A Filetta, della riuscita produzione “Mistico Mediterraneo” e dell’omonimo disco pubblicato due anni fa dalla ECM. Ricomposto il cast proprio di quella felice esperienza, il primo appuntamento del festival sulla terra ferma è in programma l’indomani sera (venerdì 9 agosto, ore 21.30) a Chiaramonti, dove Fresu, Di Bonaventura e i sette cantori di A Filetta sono attesi al Castello Doria per una produzione originale nell’ambito di “Sonata di Mare”: un progetto che ha come area di riferimento lo spazio marittimo fra Toscana, Corsica, Sardegna e Liguria, e come obiettivo la creazione di un circuito transfrontaliero di festival, eventi e produzioni artistiche per la valorizzazione della musica tradizionale e contemporanea, e per la creazione di forme musicali innovative.

Per Daniele Di Bonaventura, altro impegno, stavolta in solitudine, il 10 mattina a Calangianus (Chiesa delle Grazie, ore 11). Per il pubblico di Time in Jazz, invece, altri suoni e suggestioni nel pomeriggio (ore 18) a Ozieri, con la Funky Jazz Orchestra, la formazione berchiddese diretta da Antonio Meloni, già applaudita lo scorso anno, in concerto alla Cattedrale dell’Immacolata. Poi, in serata (ore 21.30), riflettori puntati su uno dei nomi di spicco di questa edizione del festival, Ludovico Einaudi, in pianoforte solo ad Ardara, nella Basilica di Santa Maria del Regno.

Da domenica 11 agosto gli appuntamenti si intensificano. In mattinata (ore 11) il festival fa tappa a Ittireddu con il duo chitarristico di Peo Alfonsi, uno dei nomi di spicco del jazz in Sardegna, e Roberto Taufic, honduregno di nascita ma maturato in Brasile. Entrambi, con Maria Vicentini alla viola, compaiono anche nei ranghi del quartetto di soli strumenti a corda guidato da un altro sardo trapiantato, come Alfonsi, al nord, il violoncellista e contrabbassista Salvatore Maiore, al centro del concerto pomeridiano a Pattada, (chiesa di San Giovanni,ore 18). In serata, infine, è il momento dei primi concerti in programma a Berchidda. Doppio appuntamento al Centro Laber (l’ex Caseificio trasformato in spazio per lo spettacolo). Apre alle 21.30 Petrina, cantante, pianista, tastierista e compositrice capace di sintetizzare con classe visionaria un obliquo e sensuale cantautorato con le sperimentazioni del jazz-rock d’avanguardia e dell’elettronica. In trio con Mirko Di Cataldo (chitarra, basso, tastiere e laptop) e Niccolò Romanin (batteria e percussioni) presenterà a Time in Jazz il suo nuovo album. Il secondo set vedrà invece al centro della scena uno dei sassofonisti più esperti e accreditati del jazz “made in Italy”, Tino Tracanna, in quintetto con il trombonista Mauro Ottolini, Roberto Cecchetto alla chitarra elettrica, Paolino Dalla Porta al contrabbasso e Antonio Fusco alla batteria per presentare in concerto il repertorio del suo ultimo disco, “Acrobats”.

Reduci dai rispettivi impegni della sera prima, Tino Tracanna e Roberto Cecchetto sono attesi in duo a Posada la mattina del 12 agosto (ore 11), mentre Petrina terrà banco nel pomeriggio a Budoni (Baia Sant’Anna, ore 18) con una performance di voce e piano solo.

Dal 12 agosto i concerti in piazza del Popolo a Berchidda

Alle 21.30 si accendono per la prima volta i riflettori sul palco principale di Time in Jazz, nel vasto spazio allestito in Piazza del Popolo. Di scena Ludovico Einaudi con i percussionisti del PMCE – Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble dell’Auditorium di Roma (Antonio Caggiano, Fulvia Ricevuto, Gianluca Ruggeri, Antonino Errera ) e con Robert Lippok ai live electronics per presentare “The Elements”: un progetto commissionato al pianista e compositore torinese dalla rassegna “Contemporanea” promossa dalla Fondazione Musica per Roma, e dedicato ai quattro elementi “filosofici” della creazione del mondo: l’aria, l’acqua, la terra e il fuoco.

Altri grandi protagonisti di questa edizione di Time in Jazz sono attesi sul palco di Piazza del Popolo nelle serate successive. Doppio set il 13 agosto: apre (ore 21.30) Jaques Morelenbaum con il suo Cello Samba Trio, la formazione con cui il violoncellista, compositore, arrangiatore e produttore brasiliano esplora, con il sapore intimista della musica da camera, lo stile musicale più emblematico della diversità culturale della sua terra: il samba appunto. Con Morelenbaum due grandi talenti della musica popolare brasiliana: il chitarrista Lula Galvão e il percussionista Rafael Barata. Altro trio, altre sonorità e atmosfere nella seconda parte del concerto, quando sul palco saliranno Medeski Martin & Wood, uno dei gruppi più popolari negli Stati Uniti nell’ambito del jazz e dei suoi immediati dintorni: maestri del groove, a loro agio con il jazz, il funk, il soul e il jazz-rock anni settanta, John Medeski (pianoforte, organo, tastiere), Billy Martin (batteria) e Chris Wood (basso) sono considerati come il gruppo simbolo del nuovo jazz elettrico, una fra le più imprevedibili e anarchiche formazioni dell’era post-fusion.

Set unico la sera del 14: protagonista uno dei jazzisti più famosi e carismatici che sono emersi negli anni ’90, il sassofonista californiano Joshua Redman. Classe 1969, figlio d’arte (il padre era il grande Dewey Redman), arriverà a Berchidda con il rodatissimo quartetto che ha formato nel 1998 con il pianista Aaron Goldberg, il bassista Reuben Rogers e il batterista Gregory Hutchinson.

La serata di Ferragosto a Time in Jazz per tradizione è in due distinte parti. La prima (ore 21.30) , con ingresso a pagamento, quest’anno vede sul palco il Django Bates Belovèd, ovvero il pianista e compositore inglese Django Bates con il contrabbassista svedese Petter Eldh e il batterista danese Peter Bruun, alle prese con le musiche di Charlie Parker e dello stesso Bates già proposte nel loro ultimo album, “Confirmation”. Poi fiato alle trombe nella seconda parte della serata, ad ingresso gratuito, con la piazza sgomberata da sedie e transenne per l’immancabile festa finale che stavolta si affida alla Funky Jazz Orchestra e ai Sousaphonix del trombonista Mauro Ottolini, vincitore del referendum Top Jazz della rivista Musica Jazz come miglior musicista del 2012.

Altri concerti

Come sempre, il pubblico di Time in Jazz ritroverà alcuni dei musicisti applauditi in piazza del Popolo al centro dei concerti “extra moenia” del festival. Il 13 agosto, ecco dunque i percussionisti del PMCE – Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble a Tempio Pausania, (Fonte Nuova, ore 11) e Joshua Redman in duo col pianista Aaron Goldberg a Telti (Chiesa di San Bachisio, ore 18) per una produzione originale di Time in Jazz. Ed ecco poi, il 14 agosto, i piano solo di Django Bates a Mores (Chiesa di Santa Lucia, ore 11) e di John Medeski al Parco eolico “Sa Turrina manna” nei pressi di Tula (ore 18).

Sempre il 14, ma intorno alla mezzanotte, a Berchidda suona la banda del paese, la “Bernardo De Muro”, diretta da Luciano Demuru, in piazza Funtana Inzas. Le notti del 13, 14 e 15, verso l’una, al Centro Laber partono invece i dopo-concerto con i gruppi selezionati attraverso l’apposito concorso “Time Out”, quest’anno alla sua terza edizione.

Per tradizione, il giorno di Ferragosto il festival pianta le tende intorno alla Chiesa di San Michele, nella campagna vicino a Berchidda, dove il pubblico può apprezzare i piatti tipici della cucina locale in un pranzo berchiddese preparato ad hoc. Ma prima che il gusto del palato prenda il sopravvento sugli altri sensi, la mattina (ore 11) proporrà una prelibatezza tutta musicale, con l’inedito duo di Jaques Morelenbaum e Paolo Fresu, altra produzione originale targata Time in Jazz. Poi, nel pomeriggio, dopo un breve spostamento per raggiungere la vicina chiesa di Santa Caterina, spazio a una delle forme tipiche della musica tradizione sarda, la gara di canto a chitarra: protagonisti Franco Denanni e Daniele Giallara con Pietro Nieddu alla chitarra .

Green Jazz

Con il ciclo dedicato ai quattro elementi primari (Acqua, Aria, Terra, Fuoco) che ha caratterizzato le scorse edizioni, Time in Jazz ha consolidato il suo impegno a favore dell’ambiente attraverso Green Jazz, un progetto di sensibilizzazione che dà voce ai temi del risparmio energetico, dell’uso delle energie alternative, della differenziazione dei rifiuti, dell’abbattimento delle emissioni di CO2, mirando in particolare a ridurre l’impatto del festival sul territorio.

Lo sviluppo di una coscienza ambientale nell’ambito di Time in Jazz nasce da originali progetti come i concerti nei boschi del Limbara e nelle chiesette campestri, che hanno stimolato una maggiore consapevolezza sui temi dell’ambiente e della sostenibilità, portando, anche grazie al supporto di partner e sponsor locali, alla realizzazione di iniziative volte a tutelare un patrimonio naturale e culturale di inestimabile valore.

Green Jazz sarà presente anche in questa edizione del festival dedicata al “Quinto Elemento” con stand, videoproiezioni, campagne di sensibilizzazione ambientale. Tra le iniziative concrete, spiccano quelle che incentivano il pubblico a ridurre l’uso delle auto durante i giorni del festival, e dunque le emissioni inquinanti di CO2: Musica a pedali, con cui vengono messe a disposizione del pubblico delle biciclette per spostarsi da un concerto all’altro, sia in paese, sia nelle vicine chiese campestri, e Motori a strappo, un progetto di car-sharing rivolto al pubblico per raggiungere i diversi luoghi dei concerti. In partnership con il Comune di Berchidda proseguono poi le iniziative per la riduzione dei rifiuti, come la raccolta differenziata del vetro, del cartone e della plastica nelle isole ecologiche di Green Jazz, e Acqua dalla rete, progetto che mira a ridurre lo spreco d’acqua e la produzione di rifiuti di plastica, mettendo a disposizione del pubblico fontanelle alimentate dalla rete idrica comunale, da cui attingere gratuitamente acqua potabile.

Sarà dedicata ai temi ambientali anche l’ormai consueta conferenza che si terrà il 15 agosto alle 11 presso la chiesetta di San Michele, nelle campagne di Berchidda (subito prima del concerto di Jaques Morelenbaum e Paolo Fresu): un’importante occasione per informare e stimolare il grande pubblico a una riflessione più profonda sul delicato equilibrio che lega l’essere umano alla natura.

Anche la promozione e valorizzazione dei prodotti della tradizione enogastronomica locale a “chilometro zero” fanno parte delle azioni di Green Jazz: quest’anno, nell’ambito del progetto “Pane e Festival”, nato dalla collaborazione con l’Agenzia regionale LAORE, saranno realizzate una serie di iniziative, degustazioni, laboratori, azioni informative, culturali ed educative per il pubblico di Time in jazz, che entrerà in contatto con i pani e i prodotti da forno presenti nel nord Sardegna, in particolare nei Comuni in cui il festival farà tappa. Il pane rappresenta infatti un importante cardine della cultura materiale dell’Isola, un cibo che prende vita dai quattro elementi primari (acqua, aria, terra, fuoco), per sostentare la nuova vita.

P.A.V. – Progetto arti visive

Sempre all’insegna del “Quinto Elemento” torna anche l’appuntamento con il P.A.V., il Progetto Arti Visive curato da Giannella Demuro e Antonello Fresu, che da anni affianca la parte musicale di Time in Jazz, aprendo una finestra sull’arte contemporanea nazionale ed internazionale con un’ampia proposta di iniziative. Il programma completo è ancora in via di definizione, ma anche per questa edizione si prevede un cartellone ricco di performance, mostre ed eventi espositivi. Accanto alla consueta Rassegna internazionale di arti visive, dedicata alle nuove sperimentazioni contemporanee nazionali e internazionali e alla videoarte, saranno presenti le installazioni e le performance del progetto “Lavori in corso”, allestiti nel paese e nel territorio circostante, mentre sarà al solito incentrata sui giovani talenti emergenti la collettiva BabelFish. Come d’abitudine, alcuni degli artisti che parteciperanno alle mostre saranno presenti anche in “Arte tra le note”, scenografie d’artista realizzate appositamente per i concerti serali del Festival che si svolgono sul palco di piazza del Popolo. Farà parte del cartellone del PAV anche “Un ‘tocco’ per due”, mostra documentaria multimediale sulla laurea honoris causa dedicata a Paolo Fresu e Time in Jazz, realizzata in collaborazione con L’Università degli Studi Milano Bicocca.

Visitabile in permanenza, infine, il progetto stabile Semida, il Museo di arte ambientale nato nello splendido scenario del Demanio Forestale del Monte Limbara in collaborazione con il Comune di Berchidda e l’Ente Foreste della Sardegna, in cui sono esposte opere di Clara Bonfiglio, Giovanni Campus, Bruno Petretto, Pinuccio Sciola e Monica Solinas.

Altri eventi

Come di consueto, al programma musicale e al PAV si affianca anche la rassegna di film e documentari curata curata dal regista Gianfranco Cabiddu, quest’anno intitolata “Niente è come sembra”. Il “Quinto elemento”, tema portante del festival, sarà in questo caso declinato secondo le suggestioni che il cinema ha riservato all’esplorazione del divino, il territorio dell’inspiegabile che fin dalle origini ha attratto l’uomo: attraverso un omaggio alla grande tradizione del cinema etnografico internazionale, il percorso della rassegna si snoderà attraverso la proiezione di documentari incentrati sulla rappresentazione del divino non solo in varie forme d’arte, come il teatro e la musica, ma anche nella filosofia delle culture orientali, africane ed europee. La rassegna si avvarrà della collaborazione dell’Istituto Superiore Regionale Etnografico e del Centro teatro Ateneo dell’Università di Roma.

Spazio anche per le presentazioni editoriali: la mattina del 16 agosto, al Museo del Vino di Berchidda si parla di “A Love Supreme – Storia del capolavoro di John Coltrane”, con l’autore del libro pubblicato nel 2004 da Il Saggiatore, il giornalista e storico musicale americano Ashley Kahn.

Con Time in Sassari altri due giorni di musica

Il 17 e il 18 agosto, calato il sipario su Berchidda, si rinnova l’appuntamento con Time in Sassari, la consueta appendice di Time in Jazz, che giunge quest’anno alla sua settima edizione, con tappe anche a Cheremule, Osilo, Ploaghe e Sorso.

La città di Sassari gioca come sempre un ruolo centrale nella manifestazione, con due concerti in piazza Tola. Primo appuntamento sabato 17 (ore 21) con l’Orchestra Sousaphonix guidata da Mauro Ottolini, frizzante ensemble di dodici elementi (già protagonista della festa finale a Berchidda) che porterà in scena “Bix Factor”, un progetto discografico e editoriale dedicato all’esplorazione del jazz di New Orleans e Chicago degli anni Venti e Trenta, uscito lo scorso anno per Parco della Musica Records, in cui jazz e swing si fondono con le sonorità del klezmer creando un mix altamente coinvolgente. Domenica 18 (21.30) torna sotto i riflettori di Piazza Tola il Django Bates’ Belovèd (Django Bates al pianoforte, Petter Eldh al contrabbasso e Peter Bruun alla batteria) col suo repertorio ispirato alla musica di Charlie Parker.

I concerti di Sassari saranno affiancati da quattro tappe fuori città: si comincia la mattina del 17 agosto (ore 11) al convento di Sant’Antonio di Ploaghe, con “Songshine”, il nuovo progetto di Francesca Corrias: prodotto dall’etichetta S’ArdMusic e uscito lo scorso settembre, il secondo album della cantante cagliaritana racconta in musica dieci storie che spaziano dal macrocosmo dei fatti storici al microcosmo della vita quotidiana, con sonorità che si muovono tra jazz, ritmi africani e arrangiamenti realizzati insieme ai musicisti che la accompagneranno: Stefano D’Anna al sax, Alessandro Di Liberto al piano, Filippo Mundula al contrabbasso e Pierpaolo Frailis alla batteria.

Secondo appuntamento nel pomeriggio a Sorso (ore 18), alla fontana della Billellera, dove ritroveremo Django Bates, questa volta impegnato in un piano solo che riprende il titolo di un suo disco del 1994: “Autumn Fires (And Green Shoots)”.

La giornata di domenica 18 agosto inizia alle 11 a Sa Funtanedda di Osilo, con Paolo Fresu e Daniele Di Bonaventura: già protagonisti dei concerti inaugurali di Time in Jazz, tornano in scena in duo nella giornata di chiusura di Time in Sassari per un nuovo e intenso dialogo in musica.

La quarta e ultima tappa “extra moenia” di Time in Sassari è nel tardo pomeriggio di domenica (ore 18) nell’area archeologica di Museddu, nei pressi di Cheremule: a tenere banco ancora Mauro Ottolini con “Io, la iella e il blues”, una performance che prende il nome da una composizione di Thomas “Fats” Waller e che vede lo stesso Ottolini al sousafono affiancato da Vanessa Tagliabue Yorke alla voce, Enrico Terragnoli al banjo e Guido Bombardieri al clarinetto.

Biglietti e abbonamenti

Biglietti e abbonamenti per il festival saranno in vendita dall’11 aprile. Come sempre, l’ingresso è a pagamento solo per i concerti serali che si tengono in piazza del Popolo: tutti gli eventi in decentramento sono infatti a ingresso gratuito, ad eccezione dei due spettacoli fuori abbonamento dell’11 agosto di Petrina in trio e Tino Tracanna Quintet “The Acrobats”, in programma al Centro Laber.

Per tutti gli spettacoli a pagamento il biglietto intero in platea costa 23 euro, il ridotto 20 (più 2 euro di diritti di prevendita); 60 euro è invece il prezzo dell’abbonamento intero per le quattro serate (12, 13, 14- e 15 agosto), ridotto a 50 (più 3 euro di diritti di prevendita). Per i posti in tribuna non sono previsti abbonamenti ma solo biglietti a 18 (intero) e 15 euro (ridotto).

Per la serata di Ferragosto l’ingresso costa quasi la metà: il biglietto (13 e 11 euro in platea, 11 e 9 in tribuna, più 2 euro di prevendita) si paga infatti solo per il primo dei due concerti in programma (Django Bates’ Belovèd), mentre la festa finale (con i Sousaphonix di Mauro Ottolini e la Funky Jazz Orchestra) sarà, come di consueto, a ingresso gratuito.

Le riduzioni saranno applicate a soci, studenti, adulti oltre 65 anni, bambini sotto i 12 anni, disabili, Carta Giovani, Jazzit Card, soci TCI, Sconto in Conto.

In the morning (11 am), the festival makes a stop in Ittireddu with the guitar duo of Peo Alfonsi, one of the leading names in jazz in Sardinia, and Roberto Taufic, Honduran by birth but developed in Brazil. Unique set on the evening of 14: protagonist one of the most famous and charismatic jazz artists that have emerged in the 90s, Californian saxophonist Joshua Redman. Born in 1969, his father’s footsteps (his father was the great Dewey Redman), will arrive in Berchidda with rodatissimo quartet that formed in 1998 with pianist Aaron Goldberg, bassist Reuben Rogers and drummer Gregory Hutchinson.

The evening of August a Time in Jazz is traditionally into two separate parts. Other concerts

As always, the public Time in Jazz rediscover some of the acclaimed musicians in Piazza del Popolo at the heart of the concerts “Outside the Walls” of the festival. Green Jazz

With the series dedicated to the four primary elements (Water, Air, Earth, Fire) that has characterized previous editions, Time in Jazz has strengthened its commitment to the environment through Green Jazz, an awareness project that gives voice to issues energy conservation, use of alternative energy, the separation of waste, reducing emissions of CO2, aiming at reducing the impact of the festival on the territory.

The development of environmental awareness within the Time in Jazz was born from original projects such as concerts in the woods of Limbara and country churches, which have stimulated an increased awareness on environmental issues and sustainability, leading, thanks to the support partners and local sponsors, the implementation of initiatives to protect a natural and cultural heritage of inestimable value.

Green Jazz will also be present at this year’s festival dedicated to the “Fifth Element” with stand, video projections, environmental awareness campaigns. Among the concrete steps, stand those aiming to encourage the public to reduce the use of cars during the days of the festival, and therefore emissions of CO2: Music with pedals, which are made available to the public bicycles to move from one concert to the next, both in country and in the neighboring country churches, Engines and tear, a car-sharing project to the audience to reach the various concert venues. P.A.V. – Project visual arts

In the spirit of the “Fifth Element” also returns an appointment with the PAV, the Project Visual Arts edited by Giannella Demuro Fresu and Antonello, who has been accompanied by the music of Time in Jazz, opening a window on contemporary national and international wide choice of activities. The full program is still being developed, but also for this edition provides a rich program of performances, exhibitions and events. Beside the usual international festival of visual arts, dedicated to new national and international contemporary experimentation and video art, will present installations and performance of the project “Work in progress”, set up in the country and the surrounding area, while it will be the usual focus on young talent emerging collective BabelFish. As usual, some of the artists that will participate in the exhibition will be featured in “Art between the notes”, stage artist created especially for the evening concerts of the Festival taking place on stage in Piazza del Popolo. It will be part of the program of the PAV also “A ‘touch’ for two” multimedia documentary exhibition on the honorary degree dedicated to Paolo Fresu and Time in Jazz, in collaboration with The University of Milan Bicocca.

Time in Sassari with two more days of music

Concerts of Sassari will be joined by four steps out of the city: it starts on the morning of August 17 (11 am) at the monastery of St. Anthony of Ploaghe with “Songshine”, the new project by Francesca Corrias: produced by the S ‘ ArdMusic and released last September, the second album of singer Cagliari tells ten stories in music ranging from the macrocosm to the microcosm of the historical facts of everyday life, with sounds that move between jazz, African rhythms and arrangements made with the musicians that accompany Stefano D’Anna on sax, Alessandro Di Liberto floor, Philip Mundula on bass and Pierpaolo Frailis the battery.
