Dopo la riuscita anteprima dello scorso 29 aprile, con il tutto esaurito per il quintetto di Paolo Fresu all’Auditorium del Conservatorio, a Cagliari entra nel vivo della sua diciassettesima edizione Forma e Poesia nel Jazz, la rassegna organizzata dall’omonima cooperativa. Cinque serate in programma fra questo fine settimana e il 7 giugno, per un cartellone in cui spiccano i nomi di Javier Girotto, Bebo Ferra, Gabriele Mirabassi, dei pianisti Dino Rubino e Livio Minafra, ma che lascia come sempre spazio anche alla scena locale.

E’ il caso del concerto inaugurale, che giovedì (22 maggio) ha per protagonista il trio CaLaSè, acronimo dietro cui si celano due veterani del jazz isolano come il pianista Paolo Carrus e il batterista Ignazio Sechi, con il più giovane Andrea Lai al contrabbasso. Un progetto al suo debutto assoluto che ruota intorno al pianoforte e a un repertorio di brani firmati da Carrus, un musicista che tracciato un segno importante nell’attività jazzistica in Sardegna degli ultimi trent’anni. Musiche nate in origine per orchestra ma qui appositamente arrangiate per la dimensione ridotta del trio. In scaletta anche qualche brano tratto dalla lunga e feconda collaborazione con Roberto “Billy” Sechi, il batterista cagliaritano scomparso quasi nove anni fa e ora riproposte con Ignazio Sechi nel ruolo che fu di suo fratello dietro piatti e tamburi.
Ad accogliere il concerto del CaLaSè trio, con inizio alle 20.30, sarà il Teatro Alkestis, sede “storica” delle prime edizioni di Forma e Poesia nel Jazz, che proprio nello spazio di via Loru iniziò il suo cammino nel 1996.

Due sere dopo, sabato 24, microfoni e riflettori si trasferiscono al Teatro delle Saline per un doppio appuntamento. Si comincia (sempre alle 20.30) con il piano solo di Livio Minafra, uno dei talenti più interessanti emersi negli ultimi anni sulla scena jazzistica nazionale, come suggeriscono anche i tre diversi allori (nel 2005, 2008 e 2011) conquistati al referendum “Top Jazz” della rivista Musica Jazz. Classe 1982, figlio d’arte (il padre è il trombettista Pino Minafra, la madre la clavicembalista Margherita Porfido), il pianista pugliese conta due dischi a suo nome in piano solo e uno alla testa del suo quartetto, oltre a un’intensa attività concertistica e collaborazioni con formazioni come MinAfric Orchestra, Municipale Balcanica, Canto General e Radiodervish.

Altre sonorità e atmosfere nel secondo set della serata con “Sur”, un progetto del duo formato dal chitarrista cagliaritano Roberto Bernardini e dalla cantante Manuela Doris, in questa occasione impreziosito dalla partecipazione speciale di un clarinettista del calibro del perugino Gabriele Mirabassi, un musicista apprezzato e a suo agio sia nel campo del jazz che della classica. “Sur” propone un repertorio incentrato sulle musiche del sud e centro America, un percorso che si snoda tra i vals, le milonghe e i tanghi dell’Argentina, dalla cosiddetta guardia vieja ad Astor Piazzolla, lo choro e il samba del Brasile, sino ad arrivare alla tradizione musicale del Messico.

Dopo una settimana di sosta, la rassegna ritorna domenica primo giugno con l’immancabile serata tra musica e letteratura in programma, come ad ogni edizione, alla Galleria d’Arte di Paola Frau, in via La Marmora, nel quartiere di Castello. Quattro sere dopo, giovedì 5 (sempre alle 20.30), nuova tappa al Teatro Alkestis per apprezzare un quintetto isolano di recentissima formazione, gli Swing Roosters. Costituito dal cantante Marco Cocco, Marco Argiolas al sax e al clarinetto, Mauro Mulas al piano, Alessandro Cinzio Atzori al contrabbasso e Vittorio Sicbaldi alla batteria, questo progetto, che ha debuttato ad aprile, nasce dall’idea di rivisitare in chiave personale e originale un repertorio di brani che hanno fatto la storia dello swing, dei musical di Broadway e del cinema degli anni Venti e Trenta del secolo scorso.

Forma e Poesia nel Jazz chiude i battenti della sua diciassettesima edizione sabato 7 giugno con una serata double face al Teatro delle Saline. Come quella di due settimane prima con Livio Minafra, l’apertura propone un altro piano solo: protagonista Dino Rubino, personalità in ascesa della nuova scena del jazz europeo e apprezzato non solo come talento dello strumento a tastiera, ma anche come trombettista. Pianista dallo spiccato senso melodico di sapore mediterraneo, il trentatreenne polistrumentista siciliano, vanta una lunga serie di prestigiose collaborazioni con musicisti italiani e stranieri: tra gli altri, ha suonato e inciso con Francesco Cafiso e, più di recente, con Roberto Gatto e il suo quintetto dedicato a Miles Davis, e in duo con Paolo Fresu, suo mentore e produttore discografico.

Chiusura di serata (e di rassegna) con Javier Girotto e Bebo Ferra: un sodalizio, quello tra il sassofonista argentino (ma trapiantato in Italia da oltre vent’anni) e il chitarrista cagliaritano, nato da una grande affinità e reciproca stima cresciuta negli anni. Dopo essersi incrociati in formazioni allargate, Girotto e Ferra hanno raffinato la loro intesa nella dimensione più intima e cameristica del duo, fissando il loro dialogo musicale sulle tracce di Caleidoscopic Arabesque, album datato 2011, ricco di sapori latini e mediterranei.

La diciassettesima edizione di Forma e Poesia nel Jazz è organizzata con il contributo della Regione Autonoma della Sardegna (Assessorato della Pubblica Istruzione, Sport e Spettacolo e Assessorato del Turismo), della Fondazione Banco di Sardegna e del Comune di Cagliari.

After a successful preview last April 29 with a full house for Paolo Fresu Quintet Auditorium of the Conservatory in Cagliari gets to the heart of its seventeenth edition of Form and Poetry in Jazz, the exhibition organized by the homonymous cooperative. Five evenings scheduled between this weekend and June 7 , for a billboard in which the names of Javier Girotto , Bebo Ferra , Gabriel Mirabassi pianist Dino Rubino and Livio Minafra , but as always it leaves space to the local scene.

And ‘ the case of the opening concert , on Thursday (22 May) starring the trio CaLaSè , stands behind which lurk two veterans of the island as a jazz pianist Paolo Carrus and drummer Ignazio Sechi , with the youngest Andrea Lai bass . A project to his debut that revolves around the piano and a repertoire of songs signed by Carrus , a musician who traced an important sign in the activity of jazz in Sardinia the last thirty years . Originally for orchestra music born here but specially arranged for the small size of the trio. In the lineup even some excerpt from the long and fruitful collaboration with Robert ” Billy” Sechi , drummer Cagliari disappeared almost nine years ago and now re-proposed with Ignazio Sechi in the role of his brother who was behind cymbals and drums .
To welcome the concert CaLaSè trio , starting at 20.30 , will be the Alkestis Theatre , home of “historic” first editions of Form and Poetry in Jazz, that in the space of street Loru began his journey in 1996.

Two nights later , on Saturday 24th , microphones and reflectors are transferred to the Teatro delle Saline for a double appointment. It begins (again at 20.30 ) with the plane only Livio Minafra , one of the most interesting talents have emerged in recent years on the national jazz scene , as also suggested the three different laurels ( in 2005, 2008 and 2011) won the referendum ” Top Jazz ” the magazine Musica Jazz . Born in 1982 , his father’s footsteps (his father is the trumpeter Pino Minafra , her mother harpsichordist Margaret Porphyry ) , pianist Puglia has two albums to his name in the floor and only one at the head of his quartet , as well as intensive concerts and collaborations with groups such as MinAfric Orchestra, Municipal Balkan Canto General and Radiohead .

Other sounds and atmospheres in the second set of the evening with ” Sur “, a project of the duo formed by guitarist Roberto Bernardini Cagliari and singer Manuela Doris , on this occasion enhanced by the special participation of a clarinetist Gabriele Mirabassi the likes of Perugia , a popular musician and at ease both in the field of jazz and the classical . ” Sur ” offers a repertoire focused on the music of South and Central America , a path that winds through the waltzes , milongas and tangos of Argentina, the so-called guardia vieja to Astor Piazzolla , choro and samba in Brazil , up to get to the musical tradition of Mexico.

After a week of waiting , the event returns Sunday, June 1 with the inevitable evening of music and literature in the program, as every year, the Art Gallery of Paola Frau , Via La Marmora , in the district of Castello . Four nights later , on Thursday, 5 ( always 20.30 ), a new stage at the Teatro Alkestis to appreciate isolate a quintet of recent formation , the Swing Roosters . Consisting of singer Marco Cocco , Marco Argiolas on sax and clarinet , Mauro Mulas floor , Alessandro Atzori Cinzio on bass and Victor Sicbaldi on drums, this project , which debuted in April, based on the idea of revisiting in a personal and original a repertoire of songs that have made the history of the swing, the Broadway musical and film of the twenties and thirties of the last century .

Form and Poetry in Jazz closes the doors of its seventeenth edition Saturday, June 7th with a double-sided evening at the Teatro delle Saline. Like the first two weeks with Livio Minafra , opening another plan proposes only : starring Dino Rubino, personality on the rise of the new European jazz scene and appreciated not only as a talent of the keyboard instrument , but also as a trumpeter . Pianist with a strong melodic sense of Mediterranean flavor , the thirty-three Sicilian multi-instrumentalist , has a long series of collaborations with Italian and foreign musicians : among others, has played and recorded with Francesco Cafiso and, more recently, with Roberto Gatto and his dedicated to Miles Davis quintet , and in a duo with Paolo Fresu, his mentor and record producer .

End of the evening ( and review) by Javier Girotto and Bebo Ferra , a partnership , that between the Argentine saxophonist ( but living in Italy for over twenty years ) and guitarist Cagliari, born of a great affinity and mutual esteem grown over the years . After having crossed formations spread , Girotto and Ferra have refined their understanding in more intimate chamber music duo , setting their musical dialogue in the footsteps of Caleidoscopic Arabesque , dated 2011 album , rich in Mediterranean and Latin flavors .

The seventeenth edition of Form and Poetry in Jazz is organized with the support of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia (Department of Education, Sports and Entertainment and Department of Tourism) , the Fondazione Banco di Sardegna and the City of Cagliari.
